As you suspected, the Renault was Dauphine.

Not too bad if you wanted to go in a straight line very slowly, anything else, forget it. 🙂

    unless you had one of these;

    definately :dev2:

Now ask anybody in the UK what they feel about voting, you will find that most of them dont. You can rant ME??? leave that to the master!!about history until you are blue in the face, most of these organisations simply waste vast sums of money and do little different to what westminster would do.

dont you think that everyone can learn from the mistakes of history? dont you think that even in a perfect world you can learn from the past? dont you think that those mistakes should be addressed and the wrongs put right were possible?

Whilst your at it ask anyone in England how they feel about subsidising such little extravagances.

So democracy is an extravagance? Strange i thought that might arise some time alright.. And you want your money back? ok…so when will England pay Scotland back for the oil and Wales for the coal for starters?

so you would have us leave our affairs to Westminster??? why not go the full hog and leave it to the White house…might as well..they make most of the important decisions anyway..now wouldnt that make you happy !!!:D

You see unfortunately you didnt read my posting in its entirety….I think you should devolve power to the various countries but retain a ” watch guard ” in Westminster…that doesnt mean the complete dissolution of the UK…nothing like it..just more control & influence being in the hands of the people ..now is that a different understanding of the basis of Democracy to yours?

Hurrifan have you asked all 60 million people in the UK if they want people like you to tear their country apart?

it is my country too old son,…or at least part of it is..

Or is it just a prejudiced assumtion based on an out of date historical perception?

No i dont make assumptions unlike some here..i deal in facts..So what exactly is the “out of date historical perception ” that you refer to?

I’ll bet you I am as ‘Celtic’ as you are for a start (I appologise if I am wrong about this assumption its just that you said your partner was from The Republic of Ireland). Mine is Welsh.

    lucky you….lovely accent!:) .

Nothing is as clear cut as many ameteurs like us think it is and my opinion is that together we stand and divided………………………..well you know what I mean so please leave my not just yours country alone and let people decide for themselves.

isnt this an open forum ? isnt everyone entitled to an opinion? you see this is the point ..for too long some of us in the UK WERENT entitled to an opinion or for that matter a vote…and we are still putting up with the consequences of that and a remote uncaring london based government…as are the Scots and the Welsh

    Many thanks. 🙂

    dont mention it !!:diablo:

    to assume …to make an ” ASS ” of ” U ” and “ME” !! 😀

not so sure about the last bit mind you!! 😀

Local problems is why we have local councils.

 We are talking about an area somewhat bigger than a council area arnt we ?

and after all what influence does a local council in Gowan or Banbridge or powys have over a decision made in London? Damn all….better that they have a local body with more immediate responsibility and a more immediate concern as to the views of the populace of their respective countries.

Ask any Scot how they feel about a distant and what was perceived as an uncaring Westminster having had the power to decide what happened to Scotland’s oil . Ask anyone of any creed how they felt living in Northern Ireland from the 20’s to the 60’s where they couldnt vote unless they owned a property .Ask them how they felt about a Westminster that left them without even basic human rights.

If full devolution took place at least then the Westminster Parliament wouldn’t have any excuses about not dealing with some of the more deprived areas and people….

And then of course there is Cornwall…:D

    Paddy R

Dont get me started on this. The Scottish and Welsh assemplies realy frustrate me. Not becouse I am a raving British nationalist but becouse It is just another layer of pointless beauracracy that has to be payed for by the people. At the end of the day who cares who rules you, as long as its democratic, they speak the same language. At the end of the day they all liars and all their policies will be more or less the same.

if the people want local representatives dealing with their particular issues surely that is their right?? isnt that what we call democracy?

I agree that it seems senseless that soon there will be effectively 4 parliaments ,with reps from some still at Westminister, but each nation within the UK is unique and has its own unique problems. Its time to look at the old ideas and accepted thinking and change what needs to be changed.

You need local politicians (with a local electorate keeping their eyes open) running each country and dealing with their own problems.

Perhaps what is needed is for each country to have their own legislature but with a watchfull eye being kept from a central body that is able to step in if and only if something is very wrong.

Hopefully this would prevent the kind of mess that that was allowed to develop with a bunch of religous bigots running N.Ireland from the 20’s to the ’60’s .
