Can sympatise with how you feel the number of cops on the ground versus thise stuck doing officework is crazy.

Over here they decided to recruit something akin to a reserve …Quess what?

the regulars initially refused to have anything to do with them..daft or what?

The anti american BS here is unbeleivable, I will leave Hurrifan and his suicide bomber buddy flex297 to w*nk over saddam.

Yet another rational and thoughfull posting from the master of offence!!

i wonder why someone who seems to think he is so smart has to resort to this kind of stuff?

Maybe you just cant hack being shown up for what you are…and please stop applying your personal standards of entertainment to others.

Where are the mods when you need them!!!

A horrific one to be sure. They started paying in the aftermath of Desert Storm though years before IRAQI FREEDOM. The point is Hurrifan they were already going to pay a price under Hussein that was every bit as high, going forwards, just without any hope of it getting any better at all.

Can see where you are coming from and i suppose it depends on which casualty figures you believe. Some sources claim that its past 100k civilian casualties, that seems impossible .But then given the sort of firepower present and the kind of war being fought is it maybe we are looking at,,,,

Personally i dont think that SH, evil murdering scum that he was, could have killed the same numbers as have died so far…and thats the problem its
only ” so far “..there is really no sign of an end to it.

And in addition lets not forget that as you referred to above its not just the deaths, as reprehensible as they are, that we have to take into account…What about the total disintegration of the society?

Its scary to think that those who planned this didnt make any sort of allowance for the aftermath.

And these are the people who we are expected to depend on to save our “way of life”?…ohhh boy!

    Amen.

Perhaps it is naieve, but, I think the Iraqi people have a better chance now, without Hussein, to grow and develop than they had.

The next decade would be hard for them either way, but, the difference is that in 10 years, without Hussein, they might arrive at a system of government with a genuine popular mandate. With Hussein it would’ve been more mass graves, malnutrition and fancy palaces.

Yep that may be so…but what a price they , and all the PBI ,are paying for The American version of democracy, a version of democracy which doesnt really stand up to much scrutiny.

What you are saying is that becouse the US used to support Saddam they should have left him in power?:p

Well at least , at long last, you acknowledge that like the rest of us you are human and as such not always right…that is progress given that its you!

Where did i say that SH should have left in power?

Are you falling into your old habits of missquotes, twisting what others say and then not addressing the issues raised when you cannot come up with a legit argument?

Remember seeing it twice between 1998/2000…absolutely brilliant and spectacular.

mind you the first warning we had that something was going on was when our 2 way radios , being used for contact within 4/5 miles, went pear shaped..we switched to 27 mhz and could pick up all sorts of wierd stuff..one poor chap in Germany was really scared didnt know what was happening and couldnt get through to anyone…

    definitely something worth seeing,.

    Hurrifan,
ABC News aside, you picked three of the most far-left (and I mean FAR left) media outlets in this country with the NY Times being probably the worst of them all. Their idea of normal journalism went out the window years ago. In fact, their agenda and that of others such as the Washington Post is what led to the creation of a more right-leaning (though they don’t lean as far as right as those you mentioned lean left and not by anything close) network in Fox News. More people here watch Fox than any other news channel and it’s not because of some government sponsored brainwashing program (in fact, many of the shows I watch on Fox are just as critical of the president as they are of others in the nation). It’s because networks like NBC have taken such a far-left turn that it’s sickening. I don’t know what the media is like in England or in other parts of Europe, but it has become a disaster here in the United States, and if you want something to criticize us over it’s certainly the joke that our mainstream media has become. Fox News and even more so, the AP, ahas re about the only good sources to get basic news info on here in the States these days. You can ignore me and insult me all you want but for someone who’s lived here his whole life and talking with people much older than me, you’ll see that all of the above I stated is true….sad as it is.

These are but examples of what is available to everyone with access to either a sat Tv system and/or the Internet..

You dont know what the Media network in Europe is like???? why not??? And why listen to any news media including Fox when all that influences you is the opinions of family and close friends?? How can you compare like with like when you havent checked out other news media outside the US? have you even looked at http://english.aljazeera.net/English ????? Is the likes of Sir David Frost a fool ?

you too can learn from others by looking a bit further afield that the mindless tat that Fox pumps out…most people both here in Europe ,Worldwide and in many parts of the States that i have spent time in regard FOX as being about as much to do with quality programming as the Gerry Springer show…To be honest it seems to target the same intellectual level….

We watch Fox quite a bit over here as an alternative to the Comedy channels…Balanced and fair my a** !!

Do yourself a favour get over this devotion to FOX and try a few different sources outside what has quite often proven to be a very parochial American Media….try looking at the world from a wider viewpoint than the view that THEY want you to see..

So its the left wingers fault that right wingers do their worst??? could it not then be said that the extreme right or neocons and their FX policy over the past decades are responsible for the views of those who view the USA as a treat to their way of life?? …..No of course it isnt…not with Republican thinking anyway!

and as regards blindingly following the advice of those older than you….Saddam would i imagine have been older than you ,so too in all probability is Robert Mugabe….. would you take what they said as gospel?
Age is not the be all and end all when its comes to wisdom.

I despair for the future if this is the standard of thought process in the American Military…
