You should try removing your blinkers Sauron, Bush has constantly claimed a link between the former Iraqi dictator and the war on terrorism. He marched his troops in Iraq on the back of a claim that Hussain had WMD’s ready to go, when none were found, he changed tack and used the war on terrorism as an excuse.

Basically the truth is, by marching into Iraq, Bush has fuelled the extremists cause and ignited a war that he has no possible chance of winning.

I could agree with that, I’ve been suggesting something similar for a while: the US should write off the West and turn it’s alliances towards the East (NK, Iran, Russia, India, China), saving it a lot of trouble and curing the airwaves of the constant anti-whattheUSisdoingtoday virus. The only thing I would do is not be surgical if I was ever threatened. If I am out of the Middle East, have cut off Israel and Europe, and someone tries to mess with me, it won’t be surgical. It’ll take 30 minutes and represent a 540,000 degree cauterization. That’s part of the problem with warfighting today anyway: with all of the so-called surgical munitions, people have either forgotten how to or become afraid (thanks a lot, PC movement) to actually ELIMINATE OR REMOVE a threat ENTIRELY.

I’m not sold on the idea that there never were any WMDs. 1. We waited a good long time before doing anything. 2. At least one retired Iraqi General has stated that we should investigate Iraq-Syria cross-border air traffic in the period leading up to the war. 3. WMD roadside bombs (old arty shells) blew up when I was there. 4. The amount of stuff we uncover every day over there is mind boggling. Having seen the sheer volume of crap we uncover over there on a day-to-day basis firsthand (including post-1991 shipping documents for weapon systems printed in Russian and French), I can easily believe that we just might not have found what we’re looking for yet.

Lots of anti-American ranting here from those who seem to resent the fact that the U.S. chose to defend itself after the 9/11 attack. The hate GWB crowd would apparently rather die than defend their county because that would mean agreeing with him. The Euro crowd are just pissed that the days when they could sit back and pretend everything was just ducky are over.

Ok well seeing that this thread is on it’s last legs, here’s some more info on Global warming .
The met office says that by 2100, heatwaves in Europe will be common during the Summer. Something like several heatwaves per summer this is due too the fact that the soil will be dry, which means evening temperatures won’t drop so much.
What hasn’t been mentioned is all the Heat being retained by concrete buildings etc. So I would say our buildings and roads etc, will also help Global warming.
It really is going too be very uncomfortable too live through this time, and I guess crime will soar in the process. Hot weather can make certain people behave in an anti social manner. All I can say is this,with all the high Temperatures, insects, Water shortage , flash flooding, violent Storms and food production problems , there wont be much too be happy about.

i see that there are proposals to build several more large reservoirs in the UK to make up for the shortfalls already felt in then summer….but nothing about looking after all those leaking pipes !!!

I think we face a very sticky future in this world with such massive changes in the WX never mind global conflict…for once i am glad not to be young…relatively speaking that is!!! 😀

but look at the background to both these scenarios;

one a comfortable life prob wanting for nothing with good education , social conditions and few if any problems…

In some of the Arab nations these fighters are seen as freedom fighters and as such heroes…imitation being the most sincere form of flattery? but the use of kids simply to make a political point is abhorrant..

i cannot understand ANY parent wanting to do such things to their kids .
