    Towisuk,

thanks for bringing this to our attention. unfortunatly there are a few people here who act like grumpy old ******s!!!

and on the idea that it wasnt practical to bury aircraft..of course it was …lets remeber that at the end of the war there were any god’s amount of aircraft available for scrap, there was a surplus of these metals …so who would be bothered withba couple of old bombers or fighters stuck at some remote location

And as for the holes….what about all the old open quarries found in the many different parts of the country..have seen plenty of examples of these being used for landfill/scrap disposal before environmental considerations were in vogue…

    Clarification:

There is an inviolate rule that no speculation is ever permitted on the cause of an aircraft incident.

The simple reason for this is that it can prejudge the findings of the compulsory AAIB inquiry and can have serious implications for the pilot and crew who should not be ‘tried’ here.

Their very careers can depend on the outcome of the report and the musings of airchair experts, or even the slightly more informed experts who cannot possible know all the facts.

This does not prevent an open thread on an accident where we can (in this case) express our pleasure that the crew have escaped relatively uninjured, or in worse cases offer condolences.

Equally we do not speculate who might be involved for fear of being the ones to inadvertently break the news to relatives.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I OR ANYONE ELSE HAS POSTED HERE CONSTITUTES SUCH SPECULATION.

    Moggy

then only speculation that this tread has triggered so far is why some individuals reached for their hand bags soo quickly and without any apparent cause..

Be grateful that the crew survived….. and stop using a tread such as this for childish outbursts!!! 😡

Yep pity they couldnt call it as it is..but PC wouldnt allow i presume…mind you i suppose it means that if some non islamic movement moves into some form of anti- american terrorism they can be lumped in on the rceiving end as well!!!

and with regards to the Taliban …do you really think anyone is going to have the guts to stand up in front of massive Coalition forces ? do you really think that the US/UK would allow the Taliban back into power even if they won an election??? I doubt it!!!

“It was a just cause on the surface at the outset, but probably devolved into something less once we got there and realized what exactly we were dealing with. .agreed..foresight is great thing but one wonders what happened to the sort of assessment which was possible elsewhere!!!

and yes politicians are generally not the most qualified to decide on what is the most effective way to fight a war…look at some of the blunders down through history…Gallipoli, Crete,Northern Ireland.. ( thank god for hitler’s perpetual interference!!! )

BUT they do need to have some control ..after all some Generals lose the run of themselves at times!!!!

“Yeah but if they’re suicidal they’re going to kill themselves regardless of the method they use.”

Not always … a knife for instance is a messy and a painfull way of doing yourself in…drugs /poisonare not always quaranteed to work and can be very painfull,…whereas a gun is usually quick..

lets have a bit of realism please……..

    http://www.adl.org/international/Is…ntroduction.asp

is this your answer??? a pure and simple propaganda site?

“…who therefore needed their own homeland”

…and had it stolen from the inhabitants for them….

“A brief look at the declaration of establishment of the State of Israel will show you the reasons stated by the Zionist leadership for the creation of Israel, and will also show you that they did not forget the land’s Arab inhabitants:”

no… they didnt forget them…they have been alternatively using them as almost slave labour or murdering them ever since!

“Regarding the way to make peace with the Palestinians, that’s a very simplistic analysis, but basically all I could say is that the road for peace will demand concessions from both sides – not just from Israel.”

simplistic??? not as simplisticor barbaric as genocide…

Myabe just maybe if you did try SIMPLISTIC in this form you wouldnt
” have to ” continue your brutal muderous campaigns or for that matter suffer the loss of both your soldiers and civilians..

Leave it as it is now in my view. There have been instances where during a modern wreck recovery human remains have been found at the site when a burial took place in wartime. In two cases the group involved re buried the fragments when the hole was being back filled.

If an actual burial has already occured I see nothing to gain but as you suggest it may cause distress.

it may be so..but some people still await closure and want to go to a grave and know that their loved one is in that particular grave.

as regards the ” reburial ” of these fragments ..is this right and proper?

it would at best seem to be questionable from a legal point of view.

    Skipper,

Its very sad to visit a grave and see ” known only to god” or “unknown airman”. i wondered myself if there was the possability of DNA now making i.d possable in some cases.Has the science advanced sufficiently to allow 100% accuracy?

Your concern at causing upset to the families is very commendable. Is there an ex-service organisation or Squadron association that can be contacted ?

On the contrary, the real irony is that Israel wants UN resolutions to disarm Hezbollah to be implemented, and yet when the boot’s on the other foot, namely implementation of UN resolution 242 (return to 1967 borders) Israel doesn’t want to know!

Instead, just keep building more settlements on the West Bank (financed by massive US taxpayers money-it’s only the annual US Aid Package subsidy that allows Israel to do this), to create “facts” on the ground. O what a tangled web we weave! 😀

actually its known as hypocrisy…from a hyprocritical state with no sense of justice or human rights…unless of course you wear the blue star or the stars and stripes!!!

and lets not forget that Isreal is/was the biggest receipiant of ” Foreign” aid from the USA…sure god help them arnt they starving with Hunger!!!!

I’ll tell you what you can say. Get our troops out of there and Iraq now. America (or GWB to be precise) dragged us into both. It’s about time this government had the guts to tell America they’re going to have to go it alone. If Britain decided to pull out of either the Americans would still be out first as I reckon they’re scared to stay on their own.
Hey, maybe that’s the answer to World peace. Britain should tell America that we won’t be party to any more of their wars. That way America would leave the world in peaces rather than pieces.

Firstly my sympathy to the family, friends and comrades of the deceased.

I doubt if GW gives a damn.

Sorry but this special relationship is not that special anymore , not when it’s so onesided.
