According to today’s “Sunday Express” , “The Few” (proposed movie about Billy Fiske) has been scrapped as a result of Tom Cruise being dropped by Paramount Pictures. I wonder if another studio might take over the project (as happened with “Battle of Britain” which was originally a Rank Production before they dropped it and United Artists took over)?

    Colin

Hadnt heard about this before…where they really going to use placenta man as the main lead?

Might be the best thing that happened the idea of TC helping America winning the BOB at the helm of a North American P-14 Spitfury would do my head in!!! hopefully some european will take it on!!!

    From today’s Sun:
    “Bye to Fliers
Three crew members from a bomber shot down in World War Two are to be buried – 64 years after their deaths. The unidentified men will be laid to rest with military honours next thursday near Bentelo in Holland, where the Stirling bomber came down in 1942. They were found last year after an excavation by the Dutch Air Force”.

may they rest in peace. All those young lives snuffed out.

having just returned from a visit to Germany during which i visited Durnbach one of the saddest sights is a gravestome marked ” known only to God” or ” unknown airman ” . I know however that everything poss will have done to i.d the remains found in Holland.

Maybe in years to come the science of DNA investigation will advance sufficiently to allow more i/d’s to be made.

Goods news! I believe TIGHAR, the organization mentioned here are very active in pursuing a solution to the Amelia Earhart mystery. 😉

didnt they find some remains on a pacific island? seem to remember something about aircraft wreakage, bones and clothing on a TV documentary?

As the current U.N. force in Lebanon did nothing to prevent Hezbollah from occupying and fortifying the southern Lebanon boarder with Israel as a base for mounting attacks against Israel ( in some cases even providing cover for Hezbollah attacks), How long will it take Hezbollah to rearm and repair under the protection of the new U.N. force which is currently being assembled?

    Sauron

And your proof for the above scurrilous allegation of collusion on behalf of the UN is??

    Mr Clarke,

Unfortunately you seem to ignore the fact that some serious issues have been raised by people who were ACTIVELY involved in this recovery. It would appear that several people VOLUNTARILY gave their services in that recovery but were unaware that the remnants of the aircraft would be sold apparently for financial gain .

Perhaps the best solution to this debate that you find soo unbecoming is for a full explanation to be made to those involved and published on this tread to clear up any questions raised.

i am afraid that your tendancy to ignore serious issues raised by these much meligned “newbies”both here and on other treads, to pick and choose which kind of rudeness and unfairness you will address ,does not do your creditability any good…too much of the old school tie !

Now thats interesting Hurrifan, so its big business versus progress. That certainly makes sense , so its status quo and nowhere too go. Would I be correct in saying that Russia has huge reserves of Oil underground, I have heard this mentioned in the past. I also understand that a modified Diesel Engine will work on used cooking Oil.

Big business always wins doesnt it!!!!

    OK OK…have to mention …………………JEREMY CLARKSON…

there said it!!!! joking aside he demo’d a very old diesel Volvo running on veg oil within the last few series of Top Gear..It does work ..i know someone who ran their old primera on the stuff for a few years a while back but you have to be damned carefull with the mix.

But a radical alternative( pig droppings actually!!) were shown in the mid eighties to work on a Mercedes diesel.

With regards to Russia i beleive you are correct…. what price the evil eastern block now!!!! 🙂

    [QUOTE=Allison Johnson]

It’s an interesting video and that’s good visibility for the UK. It looks like the current was running a bit so it was probably quite difficult for the guy to operate the camera, clean the guns and stay where he was.

    Ali 🙂

Strangely though Hurrifan, good manners were always considered important back then.
At least that’s what we’re told.
My dear departed Grandmother always told me that they cost nothing and gained one much.

Something that apparently passed Bader by.

good manners were always extended to one of your own or higher class, rarely to one of the menial classes.. at least that was the attitude of the upper/Wannabe upper classes.

And your Grandmother had it right…pity she was unable to pass on that attitude to others of her era!! I had a manager almost 30 years ago who reminded me soo much of George Mainwairing that it was spooky…and his attitude and that of his wife had to be experienced to be beleived! Thank god he retired shortly after…not my fault!!! :diablo:
