I drive for a living because I have too, its part of my job. Why should I pay the price because our technology re Vans/ cars is rubbish. Surely the manufacturers should pay the price for producing poor technology. We need better Technology now, agreed, its long over due.
contrary too what you say re us oldies, the reverse is true, after 50 nobody wants too employ you because your’e too set in your ways. A younger person can be manipulated more easily too accept unfavourable terms of working practice. They can easily be hired and fired, thats what the real World is all about. You see there are 2 sides too everything… 🙂

well actually in this world you will find that their are many more sides than we can keep a track of!!!

I can only tell you that for example in my industry we had almost compulsory redundancy at age 50 for many years untill about five years ago..then the powers that be found that the oldies had much to offer…and now they are hunting them out AND reemploying people whom they have paid redundancy to!!!! This is also evident in many different industries in particular service industries… they NEED your expertise and knowledge ..dont let them fool you..!!!

and agreed the manufacturers need to pay the price for their greed in producing unsuitable cars..EG; toyota produce the best selling car in the world…BUT if you buy one in europe it is much more economical and eco friendly than the American example….Why?????

The technical solution is simple and obvious. The problem is that the nations with the biggest problems have the least amount of money and therefore cannot afford to fix it themselves. Then they assume that the rest of the world should fix it for them. Basically we have two problems: overcrowding, and lack of water. Well, we can either fix one and make the other worse, or not fix one, and watch the other solve itself.

surely if the rest of the “world ” through its greed in the past and indeed the present day ( empire building Europeans and more recently US & USSR world denomination attempts) have left these countries without the basis for economic growth…surely they have a duty to help and support those they took advantage of in the past???

and how exactly will over crowding solve itself??? Isreali style???

Been away for a while and have been unable to access internet…i know its a while but i cant let this go unanswered!!!

No firstly i ain t a “freaking green ” i am simply someone who can look around them and see with the eyes god gave me what sort of a mess Nuclear energy has made of the world so far…and i am not talking about Chernobyl..

Here on the east coast of Ireland ,both NI & ROI, we have a nightmare called Sellafield hanging over us, and its been there for years, and we have unexplained high densities of cancers where they cant be explained , and we have had high densities of children born in a particular period in a particular area with serious birth defects and handicaps,

and this isnt some journalists attempt find a story…i live with its effects every day , i see it every time i walk through my home town.

Chernobyl was far from being the exception … its just that the other monumental ***LS UPS have been kept under wraps…This was after all something that occured in the USSR…GReat propoganda for the western alliance or what?

Wow…just wow…I do not know where to start…

Any heat source that relies on combustion of commonly available fuels will generate the evil green house gas, CO2 as well as H2O, CO, NO and some other trace molecules. The amount of CO2 generated is inversely proportional to the heating value of the fuel. Oil, natural gas, and coal have much higher heating values than wood or wood products (That’s why you don’t find many wood-fueled airplanes 😉 ). This means you have to burn a greater mass of wood than oil to achieve the same temperature rise. By burning the greater the mass of wood, you will generate more evil CO2 (…which plants need for photosynthesis…but the greenies probably slept through that lesson in school too).

I would recommend you invest in better insulation to cut down on heat loss. Reduced heat loss means less oil burned.

You can ignore this post if your real motivation is to “stick it to the man” in charge of big oil. But to think that switching to wood, pellets, peat or buffalo chips will reduce CO2, is wrong.

think you will find that thee are no wood fueled aircraft simply down to weight and bulk !!!!! :confused: mind you maybe F-16s could be converted!!

We have been advised by all and sundry that wood burners especially wood pellet is the eco way to go!!! minimal waste, higher efficientcy than gas or oil, minimal environmental impact,certainly a lot less than the gas guzzling systems presently in place …. havent heard about Buffalo chips though your Yankee buddies could tell you about the properties of Grain burners which are apparently very popular over there!!

suppose this would be one way to stop the Middle east conflict…remove the need for the US to stick their noses in again……No need when the Oil isnt the be all and end all…..SO ADD WORLD PEACE TO THE BENEFITS ! 😀
