Would love to know what is happening with the 2Furies in the USA, WG599 and VZ345, pretty sure 599 is with Matt Nightingale for a pratt conversion to complete it but vz345 seems to have disappeared, it was reported to have a twisted rear fuse
Dave Reader, help me out here!!!!!!!
Bleeming, the survivors count is a problem, I am not game enough to cruise around Pakistan to find them if any have escaped scrapping. I have found a fair bit of ID info on the UK military serial numbers website scrolling through the various prefixes that I know Furies carried like WG,VX,WH, etc but cant remember if any Paki ID’s were there. I would like to think a few of the 90 odd Furies are around, need a long range drone :))) Would love to see one fly in their scheme for something different!
Finally!!! some sanity is shown by a UK Mossie group!!! Re inventing the wheel with Mosquito structure is the worst cost effective method as opposed to using the NZ set up, good to see progress at last!!!
Pretty sure the Herc sleeves are shorter than the Centaurus ones, same bore size though, all these goodies are ex Freighter so late Hercules model, still great to have them saved
Glynn Powell did the first set of wings if I recall correctly so he probably still has his own jigs, there is also nothing to stop Avspecs building a jig from the centre section they currently have if not done already to guarantee availability of more wings, very surprised that Aerowood closed up when they had such a niche market for Mossy wings, time will tell I guess!!
Have to wonder if the date posted is relevent:))) 01/04/18
Two hopefully, one with salt water ( not requested) and one with preservative!! A bit rough really, dont poms hate baths:)))))
My bet is the emergence of the two seat Hurricane often talked about!!
Small adjustment, VH-HFG is NX97SF owned by Walt Bowe and very active, N57JB is with John McGuires collection in Texas, previously as VH-HFA in Aust. VH-ORN is in storage in Wangaratta with the engine here in Darwin for overhaul, has been inactive for a few years so will need to be loved a little before flight:)))
TJ, not lately as far as I know, he had some issues with plugs fouling I think, would be nice to see it back in the air with him in it!!
Yes
Ouch!!! did not realise it burnt as well!! certainly a very striking scheme, the Meiers fury will perhaps fill that gap a little:))))
Hooligan, the wreck still exists at the Sanders business in the US, its mainly the damaged fuselage section & tail from the pics I’ve seen, the wing centre section ended up here in Australia for a while but only for parts, Guido Zuccoli purchased most of Spencers parts in the early 80’s
