Chateauroux is really a dump, isn’t it? There’s a half 747 corsair (it’s half because of the many parts removed), and I also saw a few african 747’s or so, couldn’t see the title. There was (is still?) an a343 of sn stored there and an iberia 727. ever been there hand?

    Malagas code is AGP
You can find Virgin Express and Ryanair there. There are also Iberia DC-10’s stored there.

Conclusion: a Saab 50 never existed!

I have no idea actually?? I just started with a flightsim and then started learning so much about planes from the internet. Freaky. They mayor thing that made me aviation enthusiast was probably turning a 737-400 to the next waypoint over the sea TFS-BRU. Lucky me, and according to the captain, I did it perfectly :D.

I have to statisfy mysels with GA traffic at Antwerp. Every two months I can persuade my dad to go to Brussels, I never went spotting somewhere else, because my dad don’t want to. The highest you can get in Antwerp is a Fokker 50 (with the wing nearly over my head) and a Do328. Anyway a week ago there was a complete white Fokker 50 coming on a charter from Austria. I don’t have a picture of it because I didn’t see it coming , I was thinking so hard that I didn’t notice the traffic was quiet. I’m not used at these “fast” approaches:). Anyone know who that F50 could belong to?

Can someone tell me more about the magnetic north?!

Ye… Can the ERJ operate on unpaved runways? Are there so much unprepared runways in Russia that they make special versions for it?

Is the magnetic nortphole dangerous? how do navigation instruments react on this?

Anomalies hint at magnetic pole flip

    19:00 10 April 02

Exclusive from New Scientist Print Edition

The Earth’s magnetic poles might be starting to flip say researchers who have seen strange anomalies in our planet’s magnetic field.
The magnetic field is created by the flow of molten iron inside the Earth’s core. These circulation patterns are affected by the planet’s rotation, so the field normally aligns with the Earth’s axis – forming the north and south poles.

But the way minerals are aligned in ancient rock shows that the planet’s magnetic dipole occasionally disappears altogether, leaving a much more complicated field with many poles all over the planet. When the dipole comes back into force, the north and south poles can swap places.

The last reversal happened about 780,000 years ago, over a period of several thousand years. Now Gauthier Hulot from the Institute of Earth Sciences in Paris and his colleagues think they have spotted early signs of another reversal.

Are we talking about the magnetic north or the actual north? Flying over the magnetic north would twist all HSI’s, and doesn’t that give navigation problems…

Is evergreen based in Alaska? They’ll have to build loads of these. Two for Europe, one for Australia/ Oceania, two for Asia, well Africa won’t need them because they burn down forests constantly; South America won’t care either, and five for America.
And what about calm wind-situations? Well, if this occurs, this huge amount of water wouldn’t be needed (fire spreads less rapidly and is easier to extinguish). But what about the smoke? Can the engines tolerate that? Or do they just have to make an approach so that they don’t come in the smoke?
    😮

I think two feet will be enough, but 3 feet for safety. A 747 has a MTOW of over 400 tonnes, Even if the ice was 50 feet thick I think it would make cracks in the ice! And you should try to stop a 747 without wheel brakes. That is nearly impossible, the reverse thrust is only limited to a specific speed, which would make the landing distance extemerly long. The only brake you have if the reverse thrust is off, is air resistance (spoilers aren’t effective anymore at lower speed). It’s impossible.
