@Stieglitz,
it’s possible to own the D-FJAK now ๐ :
David,
I have found the following pic on Airliners.net :

But I don’t know if it’s the one you are searching for. I try to find out more about where it could be…
Another update of the “red 7” – informations from a user of the german forum “http://www.flugzeugforum.de” – I have tried to translate them:
“…Last saturday, 22nd of october, the members of “Freundeskreis D-FWME” (“Circle of friends D-FWME”) met in Albstadt at the MAC (“Me-Air-Company”).
Mr. Grammel of the MAC did also participate.
Mr.Grammel gave a statement of approx. 90mins with lot of infomations from the first build-up to the current damage description.
Current situation:
– wings and tail unit are dismantled and fixed in a straightening table.
– the DB605-engine has only few damages. Especially parts of the exhaust, ignition system and several lines are affected. The main engine and gearbox are not damaged at all. Mr. Sigi Knoll took advantage of the unfortunate situation and reviewed the engine completely so that it is in a manner of speaking ready for installation.
-the oil store tank can not be used anymore. This tank is assembled in front of the engine and looks like a round shaped tank with several cut-outs (e.g. for the spindle of the propeller) and several ports. It is made of aluminium and it has to be modelled, drawned and welded. The manufacturing is time-consuming and expencive.
-the body shell in the cockpit area and the firewall are renewed, the deformation at the right side are straightened – also the gear is fixed up again.
-the tail is dismantled. Especially the area of the rudder is damaged but it’s reparable. It will be fixed at the fuselage after repair but before that, the ribs have to be adjusted and partially renewed.
After that, the mounting plate of the tail unit has to be reassembled and the body shell in this area has to be completed. All these operations are very time-consuming.
– the left wing has no big damages, especially the intake for the fixation of the fuselage are complete and intact but the metal forming is also very time-consuming. Mr. Grammel called these operations “a mindless task”.
– the right wing is much more damaged. Particularly the connecting parts to the fuselage are battered. These parts are very important, because they are supporting-elements which have to be original. A reproduction is nearly impossible. The restoration of the wing has to be done in a specialized factory for metal-aircraft constructions. The cost amount to approx. EUR 20,000.
– in the next time the cowling plates will be manufactured and adjusted. This is also a very complex and time-consuming work with a cost amount of EUR 20,000, too.
– a new propeller has to be manufactured, cost amount at least EUR 30,000 (without the spinner).
These are the “toughest nuts”. The residual (smaller) work is also very cost-intensive – not least of all because the material costs are enormous (no standard parts of a building centre will be used). Not to mention the costs for their making.
Mr.Grammel announced that there is still a lack of money and the MAC still relies on donations.”
Some current pictures of their hard work can be found at the official homepage of the owners “http://www.me-air-company.de“:

They have planned to build 2 batches with overall 12 planes (EUR 555.000 each).
Max. 3 of them will stay in Germany – all others will fly in foreign countries (mostly US).
I do not think that there is a reason to “stop” after they have sold all machines…
I had an e-mail conversation with Claus Colling and he told me that they are reworking their website at the moment. They want to publish a forum on their site to be able to show their current news.
He told me that they have really more than a lot to do at the moment.
Their T-6 is licensed (ident. D-FWAC) and flying.
The FW-190 is again in flight testing. Also, they have sold all residual 190’s.
A third batch is in current manufacturing.
Parallel they are producing the P-51-structures (structural assemblies like complete wings, which will be followed by empennages and fuselages).
Also there are several, very interesting objects for restauration “around the corner”….
I saw this dream of a plane this year in Oppenheim and Kirchheim unter Teck (Germany).
I still hear the amazing sound during take-off…
A short update:
http://www.airventure.de/news.html
“…The pictures are showing the Messerschmitt Bf 109 during a festivity at the airfield in Albstadt-Degerfeld. The crew of the MAC had jacked up and fractionalised the plane to get a first survey.
According to informations of Mr. Wilhelm Heinz they found out that the plane is in a better shape than feared. It seems that the engine “survived” without any serious damages. A problem for the restoration-team among other things is a part for the fixation of the wing-fuselage. This is a steel-component which was twisted during the crash. More problems are coming from fixation-parts at the spar of a wing, which are designed for the intake of the gear.
The costs for the restoration are estimated with approx. EUR 250,000.
EUR 40,000 of the amount are accounted for the manufacturing of a new wooden propeller (without spinner).
It is planned to get the “red 7” airborne for the AIR Power in Zeltweg, Austria 2007 again.
Up to now, the received donations are saving the repairs for the next three months…”

The son of Sigi Knoll posted in the german “Flugzeugforum” that his father want’s to rebuild the “red 7”.
They have discussed several concepts and are thankful for assistance from all sides because rumors are going around that the other guys do not want to participate again.
Hope to read more specified informations in the near future….
Here you will also find some other bad bad pics of the plane after the accident (below on that page and on following pages):

As you can see it’s a big thing in the german flight scene at the moment…

I try to translate as far as I can:
The legendary Messerschmidt Me 109 of “Luftsportverein Degerfeld” (aero club Degerfeld) is destroyed.
Yesterday in the afternoon the experienced pilot made an unsuccessful landing. The fighter plane rolled on the runway,
the engine went into the grass and was pulled out. The pilot is unhurt.
Albstadt
According to police statement the accident happened at 2.45pm as follows:
After a 15min. practice flight of the experienced 69 year old pilot with the legendary Messerschmidt Me 109 from “Luftsportverein
Degerfeld”, the plane banked during the landing, tuched the runway with one gear, tipped to the other gear and touched with the wing
on that side the unsecured ground of the runway.
Thereupon the plane tipped to the front and the propeller went into the ground. A complete rollover did not happen. The engine was
almost pulled out of the fuselage.
Mr. Manfred Birk, the chairman of the areo club is close to tears, some of his colleages are nearly speechless: “It was blessing in disguise;
the most important is that the pilot is unhurt!”. Accoring to Birk, the pilot is an old stager, extremely experienced and worldwide
one of the most accepted specialists for this old german fighter plane.
The Me 109 was the world to the aero club. This pan-European star at airshows was restored in approx. seven years and 30,000 working
hours by the four owners at the airfield in Albstadt. “The date books were full”, Manfred Birk reported with sad voice: “recently, the plane
came back from a big airshow in Paris”. Wherever this plane showed up, the Messerschmidt from Albstadt with the german marking
“D-FWME” was an eye-cather. Finally it was the only worldwide flying exemplar.
Now as a wreckage, it is questionable, if the Me 109 will be flying again. “Theoretically it could be possible to patch the plane up, but it is
hardly imaginable if the quartet is able to do this hard work again”, says Manfred Birk. It is difficult to rate the damage: “If we sum up all the
work it will be approx. 1,000,000 Euros”.
The plane had no insurance. The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accidents is informed. The police was on location.
VERY VERY SAD – BUT GOOD THAT THE PILOT IS UNHURT!
I had the luck to see this great plane at the Airshow in Oppenheim.
Here you can find a video of the Bf109 in Oppenheim:

There is nothing more to say… ๐
My deepest condolences to the families and friends!!!
I had posted it already here:

Yeah – I was right (2 posts before). The german pilot Walter Eichhorn had flown Ed Russell’s Me 109E on the 12th and 13th of May.
As you can see (and hear) on the Homepage of Walter’s T6-Team:
http://www.t6-team.de/news.htm
The text says:
18/05/05: Now here are some pics and a video of the Bf-109 E in Canada.
The penetrating on the 12th and 13th of May was successful – only a little ‘fine tuning’ was necessary. Walter says that, although this plane has a ‘weaker’ engine, there is no difference to the Bf-109 G6, because it is lighter.
Surprisingly stalling is a bit more agressive. The plane reached approx. 470km/h in normal flight direction with medium power!
Luckily Walter was allowed to fly three times with the Spitfire while engineers did the 109-finetuning. He describes the flight characteristics as very comfortable, only the control force at the aileron during a flight of a roll were comparatively high compared with the 109.
Now have fun with the video – click the red box “Film: Bf-109E von Ed Russell”… ๐
