Hi nibb
Just started, will post some pics up 🙂
thanks I’ll watch it for tips as the kits are almost identical
.
and best of all the glass nose for the Navigator, a cross over in the design of whereby old meets new.
very convenient for taking covert photos when they just happened to drift off course
thanks Peter
they were such elegant aircraft, I loved the Comet like nose and the windows
I used to love flying in the small DC9, the later long one always felt a bit odd especially on take off, they felt like they were bending in the middle,
the Meteor is excellent, a great capture
I’ve just picked up the hasegawa version of the trop as my first venture, should be easier to paint as it all two colours which will help me to learn how to use an air brush:o
thanks for the Hannants tip very useful
Thanks for that. Always good to learn something new.
I spent an enjoyable hour or two the other evening watching Convair 880 and 990 videos on Youtube. Shame about the last potentially flyable 990 being broken up just a couple of years ago 🙁
Rob
I think sadly they were considered the poor relation of the DC8 and 707 and were not taken up by the Airlines, being mostly used within the continental USA, I don’t think they were ever used intercontinental
sorry 990, forgot the fairings weren’t on the 880, I’ll go to the bottom of the class!!
Thanks nibb100. So in that respect does it make the “Modern Air” liveried aircraft a Convair 880?
Rob
yep missed that one , the fin is much bigger and it has those shaped extension things on the back of the wings, it’s also produces a lot more smoke than any other aircraft
Love this thread. But as a non afficianado of airliners (enthusiastic – yes, knowledgeable – not) can someone please tell me if the “Flying Tigers” and “Austrian” liveried four engined jets are Convair’s or DC-8’s? I get confused between the two.
Rob
all DC8s, they have small air intakes on the nose
great photo collection,
I have very happy memories of PanAm 727s flying to Berlin
but I never got to see a Tu104. Please post some more if you have some, be great to see them.
for a long time they were the only jets that came into LAP, they got quite boring in the end, sad when you think how diverse aircraft were in the 50s,now everything looks the same with engines hanging off the wings,
I always thought the Lufty 737s looked really smart in that scheme
great set of photos
thanks mate, B’hell they do stock a lot, just navigating the site is a work of art!!
I sure they’ve got what I want if I can find it,
can anyone give some guidance as to a good make of Acrylic paints and primers
trouble is I can’t get out to shops, it all has to be done on line
