that’s one big Barn find
that’s one hell of a Varsity, a friend of mine flew them in service in the 60’s, he wasn’t impressed with the power available, could be hard work 🙂
Was,nt there a photo of B.45,s in RAF markings with mixed RAF/USAF personnel in frount, something to do with flying from this country?
yep the RAF conducted flights over Russia on behalf of the USAF, the RAF markings I think was a clever move by the US, they could easily have flown with Stars and Bars
you would think in this day and age they could have obtained the correct colours, sometimes Americans can be such heathens
bit off topic, but there is the most wonderful diverse wildlife there, been pretty much undisturbed over time, nice to know it’s future is secure
The Mossie was a crying shame, should never have happened
I like the B748, it looks quite elegant with the long fuselage and the shortened top deck
the Kate Humble episode was really good,I didn’t know anything about Bill Humble before,I don’t know how he slipped through the Radar, as you say fascinating stuff,
amazing longevity, obviously the use of the process of heating plastic glue was ahead of it’s time!!!
the Grandfather’s name was A O Bluth he must have had a fairly high profile in WW2 he had a strong connection with Churchill and was involved in fund raising, his main occupation was a Banker,
Has anybody come across his name ?
thanks very interesting, I’ve read a Flight article from 42 that mentions P40s but not Spitfires, so any props would be under Rotol’s name,I wonder if they actually ever made spitfire props
thinking about it it seems likely that any presentation would have been from H-R
thanks
so people other than Horden Richmond made props using Hydulignum, what we are trying to do is to find out who would have made the blade and the cabinet
nice to see a Fan Jet Falcon, very pretty aircraft
very sad
