Those look pretty superb to me. We were pretty lucky with the weather for Sunday after looking at bad weather close by. That afternoon conditions were pretty good for photography especially with the F-18, Orion & the Gripen. Still haven’t seen anyone post pics of the Saab T17’s.

My first Duxford attendance of the year, thanks to a friend who used to work on Tornado’s amongs’t other things. We admired the flypast, of which I won’t repeat any photos as pics have already been posted.
I was surprised not to see any photos of the visiting Wasp – XT435 G-RIMM. Landed shortly before the Tornado flypast at 12:50 stayed a while then I luckily took some pics of my personal first of a Westland Wasp in flight. I’ve seen a couple at air shows over the years and some static in museums, but never in the air.
It was very gusty across the runway & it made a lurch or two before it stabilized in the air.
And finally, when I arrived in the morning, masking was still apparent on the Trident which I omitted to take a picture of. When I went back in just before closing I thought I’d better take a shot, & they had taken all the masking off. Not bad for a few days work to spruce her up!

Cheers! 🙂
Did any of the Lynx land for fuel at Duxford?
Nice to see they included XH558 flying overhead at 01:10! After that and the old clip of the landing Belvedere, the rest of this tedious drama isn’t worth watching.
Super King Air has just taken off from Wick, Ed currently taxing for take off. Arrival looks to be around 10:15.am ish.
See bbc Look East for a report
Looks promising, sounds like they’re still interested as the idea for producing the film has been around for quite a while now. Not only will it create interest for the 100th at Thorpe Abbots, but the possible use of other disused airfields in the UK…

I’m just hoping that they can get Lavenham airfield up and running again for the production.
If the production is going to be as good as Band Of Brothers & The Pacific, this will be a a huge boost for local museums in the east of England.
I had no idea this was on as I would have made the walk across to have a look. Was it advertised, don’t recall seeing it anywhere or in our Free Press.
Superb! Could you arrange a package for me to visit an airshow in Canada, basically your same journey but in reverse!!! 😉
I did like the look of one of those T-shirts but having to part with £50 to get one. Not a chance! Maybe if It was likelier to present itself in UK skies, again hardly likely.
All good intentions but I would agree that my money is better channeled towards the Coventry Shackleton.
Any chance of a view up into the nose gear bay. I’m building a kit of WS783 and wanted to see the recess for the nose wheel and the linkage from the bulkhead to the wheel oleo.

They’re what i’d call modern classics. I meant the 40’s/50’s jets, it’s a shame the T-33 & F-100 are gone. I always thought the F-100 would’ve been perfect finished in Thunderbird markings & polished metal. I would’ve preferred the F-15 staying outside & have had the F-105 hanging in it’s place.
I know exactly what you meant. My personal hindsight view is that the F-100 could have been painted as the Wethersfield based Triple Zilch and the T-33 a Bentwaters based 81st airframe. Those and a F-86A in 116th FIS markings. I know they & the F-84G’s (as well) weren’t here long, but they along with the 81st all represented the first Cold War presence of the USAF with fighter Jets in the UK. I strongly feel that a lot of people will still remain unaware of what the USAF contribution was during the fifties, and how that led to the permanent presence we currently have. Quite a large gap in history of the USAF is being missed out I think.
Damn I’m going to have to mop up all the drewl off the floor now!
Hope it stops raining long enough to make a few decent visits with camera! I’m sure David will provide us with plenty of atmospheric shots with rainbows and reflective wet backgrounds!
Just wishful thinking really. If theyr’e going to maintain the BBMF Lancaster at Duxford then would’nt they capitalise on expertise and facilities “if” ‘Just Jane’ and the Coventry Shackleton were to return to flight. When David said “Build it and they will come !”, I immediately thought of more than one Avro four engined beast being worked on at this facility.
Only a thought. Would be nice though! 😉
