Now that all those lovely highly significant airframes are now in the front section of Airspace, is there any chance they can open those doors for the general public to see them in daylight.
Preferably during the airshows. I wonder what reasons they would give for keeping the hangar doors closed? Another thing, now that there is more to see in there, will they brighten things up in there? Maybe it’s OK to have full lighting for quilt exhibitions and the like, but not the objects it was built to contain.
I do know that the situation is only temporary.

Does anyone know when or if the Dan Snow – Blenheim clip has been broadcast yet?
Was it for the One show as rumored?
Martin
Fantastic photos! Now all we need is to have the doors left open during the VE Day show & pray for some fantastic weather.

Not much chat, only pics!
And greetings to David, I’m sure we had met before. Great to chat!
I was in two minds as to get up and go to Duxford. It’s usually a struggle for me getting up early as I work till unsociable hours most nights. Glad I decided to leave the house even though I got caught in the rain cycling from Whittlesford.
On to the pics…

Then bumped into Mr Snow at Whittlesford Station on the way home.

Any record of the movements out of the AAM or are they holding off for this week? Weather looks a bit iffy for the latter part.
Would like to go tomorrow weather permitting.
To re-iterate in case of confusion. The bus is STILL RUNNING. It has not been stopped by the council. It doesn’t stop outside the museum entrance any more. But it goes to the village, and the airfield is on the edge of the village. It leaves from the station. As does the shuttle on show days. Where the station stop is is subject to change, as the area is developed. But the busses still run.
Hi there, I’ve some times considered this.
Any idea how long it takes to walk to the entrance from the village and where exactly the nearest stop to the museum is?
I’ve tried looking for a specific route map the bus takes but cannot seem to find any.

I had no idea that this was being restored to fly. Only today found that it’s flying again, so it’s a coincidence that I built this model this year

I guess I now have to do the Tiger stripes on the fin now!

Apart from the dust on the Blackbird, I’ve always wondered why the nose chines are convex. I’m sure this is the only SR-71 I have seen with a bulbous nose.
The top sides of the nose should be concave, shouldn’t they?
Can anyone explain why this is, and will this be rectified when the aircraft are removed?
Martin
Absolutely superb to finally see her in the air after all this time. Now all they need is some lovely weather for some air to air photography. No doubt we will see a massive article in the next but one issue of Flypast. Can’t wait to get over to Duxford for some Blenheim action.
One of the port struts is over in Canada being scanned for stress fractures or something like that. I hear that a new one is on its way back to be fitted in time for their first training flights of the year, due in a couple of weeks time.
A really nice chap and a superb aviation artist. I met him at the signing he did at last years Legends and picked up the three French volumes of “Le grand duke” which he signed and remarqued for me.:)
Is this the same artist who had a few scifi/fantasy art books on display. These books were scifi/aviation futristic aircraft artworks.
Or was there another artist with him at the time. I recall these were fantastic books but foolishly didn’t purchase one.
Hi All,
Just a thank you for your time and energy to all picture posters on this thread 😉 :applause:Geoff
Agreed, thanks David for keeping us updated. You know it’s very much appreciated for all of us who can’t make a visit.
keep up your excellent and informative work.
Cheers

Hi Cliff
Many thanks for replying with that info, superb!
I was wondering if you could have seen them, but I guess the tips of the props aren’t exactly what you’re concentrating on when display flying like that.
No problems about using the pics!
Cheers
Martin
I guess that’s the airshow all done with then, in case weather puts paid to any flying tomorrow!
Not tempting fate or anything!
It will be another superb day regardless!
Martin
Might not be of interest to some, but some great shots of of the Buchon showing the prop spiralling slipstream or ‘corkscrew’ effect.
I think it’s the first time I’ve seen it visible in the air, so many thanks to Duxman & Lightning spirit for posting!
These images are good to show to someone when they ask why the aircraft pulls in the opposite direction to the propeller during take off!
Cheers
Paul
Exactly, well put into perspective. The aircraft trying to counter the spin of the prop, not being an expert in such things I stress! I was watching it up in the blue and with the naked eye saw what looked like a white attachment to the plane which looked odd, so immediately started snapping at it. In hindsight I wish I had approached the pilot as I would have liked to hear his description of it from the cockpit.
I wonder if he would have noticed as he may have been concentrating on looking ahead, horizon or his controls.
As I said, never seen it before on an aircraft whilst in flight. Only in photos of aircraft taxying.
