Some very nice shots there! No Vulcan? Did it display in the end. I did the Friday show & the weather was fine.
I was thinking that your shots are nice & sharp & full frame, were you standing at the end of the pier?

Well I was going to catch up with this documentary on iplayer only when I went to try playing it, BBC now wants me to upgrade my operating system to upgrade to the new version of Flash. So now I’m not going to be able to see it as I’m at work when it’s on TV! 😡
I just hope it’s released on DVD as a few other BBC aviation docs are now on disc.
Don’t spose there’s any other way of watching this on the net?

Radio 6 are currently playing a track called “London Can Take It” by Public Service Broadcast, which is a strange hybrid of WW2 American propaganda broadcast and a modern beat, which makes for disturbing listening. It reminded me of this, which I first heard on a Manfred Mann’s Earth Band album (hippy alert!).

197 bombers heading for Mannheim, 186 returned. And the nightingales sang on…
I guess this is what people like my father heard night after night, day after day, as the RAF and the USAAF did their work.

That PSB (J Wilgoose) young wippersnappers aren’t that bad. Pretty good use of archive sound snippets. They did a pretty good track called ‘Spitfire’

Some awe inspiring shots of our great Vulcan flying in the face of adversity! Fantastic to see her flying again. Saw the Black Eagles at Waddington and was very impressed with their display. Those winglets on that DHL plane are huge, & that Yak looks very similar to the Alenia Aermacchi M-346 Master, was there a collaboration there?
In my humble opinion it has to be the Hawker P1081
No other aircraft as sweet as this
Lifted from the latest BBC report:
“A Formula 1 test driver who suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash during testing in Cambridgeshire has regained consciousness.”
Fingers crossed…
Adrian
Yep, fingers crossed & hope she pulls through.
Read the post again!
It says nothing about any aircraft owned by TFC, and is posted by a man whose passion is for Supermarines finest!!
I know! Sorry for changing the subject! More Spitfires can’t be a bad thing and couldn’t agree more to seeing a Mk22 in flight with that tall rudder! In fact I wonder if one of those XVII’s crated up will make it to Duxford some time?
On a more serious note, very sad about the accident at Duxford. Only heard a small amount of info, but hope for the best.
Dan,
Indeed no.
Projecting forward to 2050 I would predict that my IV, V, VIII and 22 projects will all be flying at Legends…and somebody will have started a Spiteful or Seafang. 🙂
Mark
Why not the Beaufighter? I would rather they got that sorted out next. If they can get a Beaufort back to flight then hopefully TFC can. That’s if it’s still part of their collection. Who does own it by the way?
I had to double take when I saw that Harvard! Who on earth allowed it to be registered with that!!!!!
The kids at the show will have to be blind folded when they walk past it. Flying Legends will have to have “Parental Guidance” stickers on the tickets and show guides! 😀
I hope we get weather like that at FL;)! This show had a surprising mix. Would love to see some of those in the UK. Those Flamants would be nice at Legends. And that Paris, maybe at Duxford later in the year?!!!!
All stunning shots and the take off shot of the Hawk 75 looks stunning, nice to see that she’s out in good weather from Dux

You’ve done superbly with that lens. That chaff/flare release/F16 shot is excellent & really good timing, following that upwards! I failed with that & I have a Sigma 400mm. Brilliant shots!

Lightningspirit, yea the end of RWA04 basicly is the seafront.. actually the runninglights are mounted on poles situated in the water. There is a beach just on the other side from the Airport called Hamresanden. and if you ever go to Kjevik to spot planes and need a brake, trust me, in the summer there is plenty other to spot at that beach, if you catch my drift 😉
Kristiansand area girls are very nice 😀
Now you’ve got me thinking about going again!
Remembering my experiences at Kristiansand I can totally agree with you there! I guess it wouldn’t only be aircraft that I would be returning for! 😉
I once flew into Kjevik back in 1995 I think it was, in a Maersk 737. The only reason why this thread reminded me was of that flight into Kjevik in that 737. I visited the Quart Festival that year, so I did get to have a good look round lovely Kristiansand and the very nice people, totally loved it there! I think I should have been born in Norway! It seemed at the time that the pilot wasn’t that confident that he was going to be able to stop before the end of the runway as it was torrential rain at the time. It is right that there is coast line very close to the end of the runway? Well not only that but the pilot had to make a steep bank to dog leg into the valley to line up with the runway. It was impressive flying what with his commentry on the uses of the runway during the war. I’m sure that there was a Spitfire airframe on the airfield that could be seen, maybe some other airframe.
I do remember departing to Copenhagen in a more appropriate Maersk Fokker 50, with the best airline food I have ever had!
Thanks for the info about getting to those airports, if only I could afford it and have the time to do all that!
Thanks for that youtube clip!
Martin
Some stunning shots there! I thought that Kristiansand was having some bad weather that day as us in the UK had some awful weather at the time. I saw the Catalina fly over us on the way there on the Friday then came right over our house on the way back. Would be nice to see that Red White & Blue F16 over here for a display. Nice little airport to display from, was there a big attendance?
Martin
Saw that Chinook bomb past Bury St Edmunds around 12:50, plus a lot of Apache activity & one very low over the house near the Rougham Airfield. One thing I regularly saw going around every so often were three stunt planes, I first thought it was the Blades, but those Red Bull stunt plane (what type of AC are they?) may be what I saw. Also heard a multi jet flypast over Bury but didn’t see them & have no idea what they were. Loads of people in the street were looking skywards. Anybody have an idea what this was?
