    Stephens Acro

I heard a rumour that an Extra like aircraft was having an engine run the other day outside the hanger I think the Mitchell aircraft are stored in. I guess that this was the Stephens Acro!

Maybee somebody is caring for these aircraft a little

    Bob Mitchell

I believe all but one of Bob Mitchells aircraft (all but the one in the picture) are stored in one of the other hangers at RAF Cosford which I have never had chance to see.

The Cosford Twin Pioneer is currently residing in the museums storage hanger across the other side of the airfield. Here is a pic of it in its new (temporary?) home.

The fuselage in the last but one picture is (I think) the remains of the prototype of the Hawker P.1121 Air Superiority Strike Fighter circa 1958. There is a wing and cockpit section lurking in the hanger as well. It would have been powered by a Gyron PS.26-6 with a projected speed of Mach 2. (please correct me if I am wrong!) I have a pic of the cockpit section (from a distance) if anyone is interested.

Ok, worked it out! Sorry for the quality of the pics, it was pretty dark and I did not really have a suitable camera. I am not sure how often people get in to this hanger for a look but from what the engineers were saying there are one or two health and safety problems with the building which prevents them from letting the public in to see.

Feel free to ask me any questions but I can’t gurantee answers!
