God knows I’m heartily sick of reading why the Lancasters haven’t appeared here or there. Why did the Canadians even bother?
So what was the visit by the Mynarski Memorial Lancaster, which carries the markings of a 419 Squadron, RCAF, aircraft to the former 6 Group Bomber Command base at Teesside, formally Middleton St. George all about then?
To say that the CWHM have forgotten about 6 Group is an insult to them.
Thanks charliehunt, I did mean “could not”.
North/South divide….. Have people already forgotten the comments made when the Lancasters’ schedule was first announced? Even this thread bangs on earlier on about “nothing in the North”……
Lots of places “up north” for those Northerners who some how could work out how to travel to the South of the UK.
Cancelled 2nd Sept 3 Lancs has been confirmed, rearranged for Sunday 14th Sept.
3Lancasters – 2nd Sept 2014- Rescheduled
By the kind permission of the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum we have been able to replace the cancelled flying on the 2nd September 2014 with an event on Sunday 14th September 2014.
All those who had tickets for the 2nd September 2014 will gain free entry to the event on presentation of your ticket. If you cannot attend the replacement event please do contact the Centre and if we can resell your ticket we can arrange a refund for the face value of the ticket.
The 3Lancasters events are raising fund for the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, Avro Lancaster NX611 and a charity chosen by RAF BBMF.
Tickets for the 2nd September 2014 are NOT valid on the 7th September 2014.
True!
Have to agree Dunsfold was pretty special. And now the last time I’ll see them together as the 3 Lanc was cancelled and I have now left UK.
Having got to fly on board their Lancaster, I’m not sure I know how to thank CWHM enough!

Not sure if this has been posted before.
On FR24, looks like Vera has taken off from Humberside, done a final pass down the runway, and is now heading “up north” for Teesside aka Middleton St. George.
82 Squadron Lancaster, early post war period in Africa, bigger rudders, long before laminar flow test wing being added, if this is PA474 (which it may not be).

Doesn’t help that when you go on the official BBMF tour at Coningsby the tour guide repeats the myth that PA474’s fins are off a Lincoln.
….and looking back.
