John, last year
Bernard Jordan again
I’m beginning to think that Prestwick is the best place to go to see both Lancasters on the ground and in the air. Unfortunately my stay in UK doesn’t extend that long. Still you make your plans….
Indeed, Charliehunt.
V.Good!
I remember Gustav Holst “Mars” being played at North Weald (or was it West Malling?) when the Vulcan was displaying many years ago…..now that was something!
No idea. I’m travelling from Spain, so North, South, makes no odds to me.
But on a serious point, I think the organisers have taken into account the complaints from up north. Although I guess the Canadians must think it a bit odd when you consider the size of their country compared to UK.
Southport now included. Perhaps the “not up north, it’s all in the South” crowd will be quiet now.

The amended schedule now says only Sunday 14 Sept DUX and that’s still TBC. I suspect DUX is being sacrificed due to flying hours so Southport could be included. this only because people up north didn’t seem to know how to travel south.
For those interested, “Unbroken’ is now a film to be released later this year. Director Angelina Jolie, don’t knock it until you see it.
Trailer here. good to see B24s rather than the usual B17s even if they are CGI. Shame Louis never got to see the film’s release.

For those who missed this first time round, DV202 has been discussed a couple of times here before. On this link are a couple of photos.

Not sure about German law on the issue. I believe some parts, an engine, are in a local museum. There is a similar looking wreck on display in Berlin which was recovered from a nearby lake. Lancaster B III JA914 From 57 Squadron DX-O. Shot down over Berlin in September 1943 at the Deutsche Technikmuseum, Berlin.
The Daily Mirror article probably explains why this particular wreck should remain in situ.
Lucky person having a flight in a Spitfire there!!!!
Very sad.
Hopefully they’ll be caught…..
The Daily Mail has been getting its knickers in a twist over this F16 today. And this one too…..
V good, for Countryfile, if you know what I mean! good interview with john Bell. What’s happening at Woodhall is interesting. Being returned to nature in a sympathetic way. Some plants from NZ have been found, believed to have come from the seeds in the bags of NZ aircrew. Lots more lime here than should be here naturally which has encouraged plants not normally associated with this part of Lincoln. the lime was from the runway building. plans for a Dambusters memorial on the runway intersection.
