Easy Elsie’s mid upper turret was chopped off in a rather crude fashion prior to the raid to reduce weight if I recall John Nichol’s programme correctly. Something that was of historical interest itself.
Stick with this….there is reference to this controversial dig. I feel sad for the family, there is still an outstanding obvious question here that remains unanswered.
You’re being dense.
Bruce is clearly saying that those who are planning such a recovery (the petition organisers, the FB instigators) need to make this point clear. Most people here will know the difference, but joe public may not.
Not to keen on the suggestion that the remains should go to the Airworld Aviation Museum at Caernarfon. Far too remote for most people.
Not as remote as Lapland!

Lots of enthusiasm, but some people not realising the potential problems, my view
Anyone told the Swedes???
News here. I’ll believe it if it happens. Best of luck!
Further on Facebook says, Spitfire PM631 will be back Thursday, the Lancaster “a little longer”. And there is a picture of Lancaster jacks and other equipment being loaded into a lorry container.
As I’ll be on board the Lancaster for one of these flights out of Humberside, I’ll give the people in the Chieftain a wave.
More accurately , the headline should surely be, “…in the UK for the FIRST time”? (I assume, since it’s Canadian-built). Or did it come across in more recent times?
Yes, she has. As was pointed at to me on another thread, visited St Eval in 1953 and Prestwick in 1957-8. But of course this is the first time owned by CWHM.
I get the feeling that this aircraft and the Tempest are not well regarded in the RAF museum [ I stand to be corrected ]?
Oh ! for heaven’s sake! This forum just gets more bizarre by the day!

Do you think it will be going back next year to get all the Scottish bits chiselled off? Nice job though on the build, superb workmanship and what a gift.
No, the Scottish bits won’t be chiselled off. In the event of Independence, the Queen will remain the Queen of Scotland. To do with the fact the crown descends from the Scottish James VI who became the English James 1.
