They undoubtably have the resources set aside to repair such damage, and the means to fund the remedy. This is not the first time, nor will be the last time it will occur unfortunately.

No “They” do not have the resources to repair such damage. The local council were reluctant to get involved ( although did eventually) , but the current guardians of the memorial, the RAF benevolent fund ( RAFBF), who took over from the BCA as guardian, had to request and separately raise monies to cover the repairs.

Thanks Moggy. I’m not sure why the comment was made in the first place, question mark or no question mark. I’d never mentioned drug abuse. I just wish people would just stop and think before posting comments sometimes. There is a personal reason why I found this objectionable.

Don’t anyone tell me to grow up. I never once mentions drugs. Lincoln 7 responded to my comments that could be taken to suggest I agreed with the illegal drug trade. How dare he. On the back of his silly comment a whole new thread was set up based on the pros and cons of drug taking. No I am not pleased.
How any person can juxtapose my objection to babies having horrific birth defects as a result of Agent Orange dropped on their parents and then say I must support the illegal drug trade; I’m afraid I object to that stupid reasoning, OK. – can you not understand why I am upset?

@389/ Far more sensible then your last sentence…No doubt you agree that heroin SHOULD be produced from these Poppies, so that hundreds of thousands of kids etc, become a lifetime addict, who robs, steals commits crime, burgles your house to steal your wifes jewelry, only to sell for a pittance just to feed their habit?,
As for where these poor drug growers should move to, I am sure they could find somewhere to doss down, perhaps Spain, f’rinstance?.

Lincoln . 7. yeah and your suggestion is so sensible. The refugees you create go where? They are fed how? they return to contaminated land, they survive how? that really wins them over.

So not only are we shooting prisoners in cold blood, we are resorting to chemical warfare. Why not just go the whole way and drop a few A bombs on them and be done with it.

I’m glad someone has raised the point as to why foreign forces are there in the first place. Variously, remove the then Taliban government, regime change, hunt for Osama Bin Laden, destroy al-Qaeda, hunt all their leaders, build schools, hospitals, ensure girls go to school, support Karzai government and his security forces, end the Taliban insurgency, prevent extremist Islamic attacks in the west and of course destroy the opium industry (from which many farmers make their living).

Really stupid comment there Lincoln 7. And let’s have generations of babies born there with horrific birth defects.
