This is the true story from Severn Trent rather than the rubbish in the DM, should anyone be planning to go tomorrow.

Lancasters used in the film were Mk 7s NX673, NX679 and RT686 as the “dambusters” and Mk 7 NX782 as the standard Lancaster of 106 Squadron.

The attached has appeared on the iPad version of today’s Daily Telegraph, but doesn’t seem to be on the website version. 3 “Dambusters” Lancs, plus the one in 106sq markings.
Some more behind the scenes pictures on the DM website today.
Mr Johnson did indeed drop the bomb on the Sorpe after a number of attempts. Good to see them looking sprightly. Shame I could not make the signing. (Panzerjohn, I’m sure you know it’s “Wallis”. Wallace is the other inventor who likes cheese.)
Couldn’t make Aces High tomorrow, unfortunately, due to being in Spain. Went 5 years ago for the 65th when Les Munro and others were there then. He said then he would never make the trip from NZ again. So I guess he may well be there in another 5 yrs!
For those on Facebook (I won’t include a link as this seems to upset non-Facebook people) The RAF Museum Cosford page has some recent photos of divers, the lifting crane and the barge if you like that sort of thing.
The also says that MoD only issued a licence because the Do17 had been positively identified and there were no human remains. Bit embarrassing if they are wrong.
Recent Interview with Fred Sutherland on Canadian TV here
Always thought it rather appropriate that the last 3 Dambusters should be a Brit, an Antipodean and a North American.
(The newspaper article does make clear that there are 3 survivors and that Johnny is the last British)
Another live report on BBC Breakfast News in next 50 mins.
I seem to recall that the Loch Ness Wimpy eventually came up in three “lumps” because the original frame to lift in one go failed. Hope this doesn’t happen this time.
Some news from the top man here.

Daniel. I wish you would expand a bit on your posts. A link to photo tells us nothing. I assume that’s Robin Olds top left. And the history today is what?
