Not so! They expanded to specialise in scale models, particularly Travel Agent type models and moved a few hundred yards up the road to Noble Corner and kept the name ‘VHF Supplies’ for a few years, later being renamed Collectors Aircraft models. Then they moved into the basement of one of the large hotels. They final went bust only a few years ago due to the present economic climate, high overheads and poor customer service. Their remaining stock was bought up by Aviation Retail Direct at Hillingdon.
Never realised that, I stand corrected. Apologies to them.
Do you mean this one?
VHF Supplies on the A4 Great West Road. That takes back a bit. Went out of business in the early 80s when they decided to only sell their World Airline Fleets book and the monthly update that went with it. Out went the kits, radios, other aviation magazines and display models. Probably not the best business plan.
It’s correct, two ii, non standard Latin/Italian plural form of Scenario.
Surely these exchanges achieve nothing. It is clear there are 4 or 5 scenarii for what happened but until hard evidence is proved we will not know which, if any, is correct.
“Scenarii” now that’s spelling!
Photos of the whole team here. Heros all (not Hollywood actors)
I’ve read his obit several times over. I can’t hardly believe it. What a hero!!!! Only knew the story from the film, but the real story is so much better. Imagine if the Nazis had acquired the Bomb. I say no more.
Stranraer and….. Er Canberra ????
Nice pictures. Just how I remember the early days
Just goes to show not much changes in the Middle East. How sad…..
I recall a visit one afternoon in the late 80’s and was surprise to see AVM Johnnie Johnson all by himself sat at a table in the aircraft hall signing paperback copies of his book Wing Leader. This was in the days before you had all the book and print signings like you do now. He’d clearly just come from an enjoyable lunch!!!
Still got my copy.
This is the flypast at Lords (not my film), but it was unfortunately followed by an England batting collapse. I was watching the game on TV in a crowded pub, pleased to say that the flypast got big cheer there too!
Agree that this information should have been made clear to the family at the outset, but it MAY mean that Dennis Copping had a decent burial 70 years and ago and that he did not suffer a lingering lonely death. This maybe the best and only out come of the story. Hope not, and hope his remains are yet found.
