I wouldn’t be too sure about Brazil, Dilma Rouseff and her new Defence Minister aren’t as susceptible to Sarkozy’s assiduous courting as her predecessor. They’re most likely to go for the lowest cost option i.e. Gripen.

In September 2011 :

“If the choice was to be made, it would be in favour of the Rafale” -Dilma Roussef.
Now, Dassault just need to keep India happy and not bollox up their chances before March…They seem rather good at messing it up at the last minute.
Statistically, it would be just unfair to mess with this one TOO.
But you’re true, and this is what worries me a lot now.:D
Congratulations to France and Dassault — TMor you should really change that avatar now!
Too bad ! My trolling attempt doesn’t work ! 😀
Thank you, Loke (and others who congratulated France).
I will now change my avatar from this :
… to this :
However, the contract is not inked yet. There is still a lot to do.
Undisputable evidence that the Rafale is the best combat aircraft ever built. Ever.
😎
😀
Definite evidence that Rafale is the best fighter… EVER. 😎
My previous message you answered to is more than a year old !:D What’s wrong with this thread !
@ Sintra : none of your pics show a delta winged fighter…
While the last batch was ordered at the end of 2009 and should give work for up to 2017, we have no guaranty about what future government will decide after.:o
… and loose all real advantages the Rafale have.
Question :
Is the Libelle g-suit operational ? I can’t find information about this, though I thought it was a big feature on Typhoon…
The only thing I found is this :
Bill Sweetman in 2009
Col Schick said in Athens that the suit is still under test, and that it is up to the pilots whether to use it. Issues: the original design could not be donned as fast as a conventional suit, which is a disadvantage in quick reaction alert (QRA) operations. Also, it still has to be used in combination with physical conditioning and a “straining” maneuver, but the Libelle technique is not the same as what’s needed for a standard suit, so a pilot has to wear one suit or the other all the time. The first design also had problems when used with an immersion suit for overwater operations. However, the suit is still being used and the design is being improved.

Amusing 🙂
Well, for the well off US & Euro citizens on Keypublishing:
I offer the opportunity to stash away your money in my off shore account
Great !:)
It’s good to see the Rafale serving other squadrons…
Could you please link to a source stating this? Or is this something you assume?
We French didn’t bring the argument of value for money.
Can you please give us a source stating this was the Swiss’ argument ?
No. They said they didn’t choose the best so as to save money, accepting a lesser capable fighter.
Also, the Sign’s attempt about cars is wrong : it would have more to do with a family searching for a car capable of bringing the 6 kids and the boat to the sea 1000km away. Armasuisse proposed a good car doing so, but expensive. Then, the family prefered not to go to sea, and save money for something else, like buying new clothes/shoes for the kids. Of course, the comparison must stop right now.
There is nothing wrong about this choice. The problem is that from the begining, the ambitions were unrealistic, and thus, the evaluation pointless.
Now, there’s already another topic about this, and here, this is Rafale news.
Thanks.
And he has the cheek to accuse others of trolling 😀
In the context of this evaluation, I’m right. Eurofighter was not the prefered choice. Neither for Armasuisse, nor for the gvt.
Eurofighter was neither the best nor the cheapest. Complaining would have been quite strange.
Swiss launched a detailed evaluation by Armassuisse to select a fighter, and after a comprehensive study (AFAR, with price and offsets in mind), Armasuisse proposed the Rafale. All this evaluation has been pointless, and if the goal was to get Gripen at the lowest price, then Eurofighter and Dassault were slapped. Once again, I mean.
So, why would Dassault avoid to make a little statement about their surprise ?
