Coventry Air museum, and the small chance of seeing some of Air Atlantiques classic types will be only a small detour from your route from Duxford to wales .
About 3 miles from the M6 or around 7miles from the A5 .
Cosford as stated above is also only a few miles from the A5 and M54 heading for Wales. worth doing both places .
The Wot name as been very famous over the last 20 odd years with the RC Model flyers .
there WOT designs have been at the top of the Model areobatics for many years . with WOT 4s / Uno Wots/ Wots wot/ to name but a few .
a google search will turn up a good list and pics of the many designs .and various scales from wee rc motors to large cc engines.
Do remind me about the ‘Vulcan will fly down the Mall to celebrate the Falkland Anniversary’ hurdle that they soared over. I must have missed that.
I think we are all agreed getting the aircraft into the air was a brilliant achievement. Nobody decries the work of the engineers.
Moggy
Don not think you will ever see her fly down the Mall.
i understand she cannot do this for some CAA reason ,
Good news thou i the latest fundraising
fingers crossed for some good feedback from Joe public and maybe sponsors
when she can fly and show all that see her what a special powerful and stunning display aircraft she is.
i like many got hooked on this hobby by the likes of the Vulcan and lightnings 30 odd years ago . I’m sure many of the young today may gasp and be struck down by the same disease.
Shows are getting a bit expensive . in recent years i budget £25 max for Airshows. over that i do not go . with the wife and kid at £25 per head that’s £50 if the child is free, add the fuel and food it can grow over the £100 mark for a afternoon out ,
We go to Alton towers, Drayton manor park, Lego land for a full good day out for free . yes free just by shopping each week at Tesco, with the club points gained we get enough points for all the theme parks and a few meals out in some nice restaurants. plus 5p off a liter of fuel and there pump prices are pretty much the cheapest in the 1st place.
Suppose insurance costs and Police cover are the biggest money grabbers?
hurting the Airshow scene.
Thanks everybody for the links to the photos also thankyou vulcan558 for your contribution, just wondering where was the photo taken,
Regards:)
Kemble airday 2005.
This one anygood for you.
Well i would say working on the motor car would be more of an issue.
slam fingers in the door .
crack scull open on the boot lid catch, when open.
take your eye out on the Ariel.
working under bonnet with the great risk of it falling on your head, trapping you in to moving parts.
loss of limb i:e hands or fingers on the spinning engine fan.
death by electrocution touching high tension circuit leads.
severe burns on engine manifolds .
the list could go on.
A few from the role demo Waddington 2007.

Seen one the same or very much the same , about 4-5 years back in one of the antique shops in Horncastle Lincs . the wife spends a day looking around those shops when ever we are in that area.
602 is the cockpit the children go and spend time in. it is mounted in a purpose built jig . with steps leading in from the rear. all safe and above board, and a very good thing for the kids adults etc to go in and see what its like inside a Vulcan.
you will also notice on the video clip strict commands of no running and other rules . its all H&S and works very well .
The Mossie was really a true 1st Multirole , and stealthy aircraft .
Wood being a very poor conductor and inter weaved laminated construction very much like today’s composite construction .
Well i would suggest if you are keen on photo takeing , than go for the Canon 400d . but would not bother with the kit you have suggested . the 90-200 mm lens is not long enough for airshows etc. 300mm being the average ,
Just by the basic kit with 18-55mm lens kit and go and purchase a canon 70-300mm lens they cost around £140.
would not bother as some as stated above to go to film or learn with a point and shoot.
you will learn more with a 400D very easy and its will cost you nothing to practice and learn.
going from film to digi is a complete new step really . same can be said about a point and shoot.
try not to waste money buying a point and shoot than wanting a DSLR .
go for the DSLR and stick with it. it should last you many years to come .
And i also still shoot film and have done for over 25 years.
On another note i cannot see much wrong with the site 28days.
as long as they do not do any damage or theft .
as been said they offer a source of the inside looking, most would not see and document it very well in most cases, the decay of our past .
they are issues with the site but we aint all perfect . ive looked on the site a few times and find it intresting to a point.
To be honest on looking at those pictures,
i would say they have paid to enter on a weekend vist .
seems a few people around other aircraft and on step gantry’s etc.
i made a visit once 1 weekend a long time back and was given accese to the 747 . i still have the last fuel load bill for the last flight :dev2:
like ive said i think they have not broken in to the site but have gained entry
in the normal manner.
take it from me i know Brunti very well i have walked around the fence allaround many times with a few of the land owners farmers permission doing pest control and they aint no places to gain entry . sercurity is as tight as my wife’s purse.
Ok not that close Its not East Midlands or Coventry or Leicester somewhere with proper FOD control and fire cover not that these airports dont have this somewhere used to seeing a Vulcan now and again.Ive been told its just at the tart of the planning stage but if it comes off is another matter thats why im not saying to much about it.:p
Would think its the old Scapmton rumour again.
When will the BBMF go there also.
