How far away from Bruntingthorpe is not that far away? Apart from RAF bases and East Midlands airport, can’t think of anywhere suitable for a Vulcan relatively close to Brunty
Would depend on the meaning how close.
Liecester or Coventry just up the road . not sure of the state of play regarding the runways etc. ?
Thanks for taking the time and trouble to post the above Coastergirl.
A few valid points being brought up.
also could not entry to the Airfield be by a donation for the TVOC Charity.
this surely makes it a non profit event but a charity event . the TVOC is a registered charity is it not.
Like a few pointers David Burke as mentioned. its just a take off test flight and land.
How does Duxford manage it when they are a load of people in the week or weekend at the airfield when test flights and practice displays are in progress. this would be normal aircraft movements . what Defines an Airshow.
If say i was on a day visit to Duxford and see a new out the rebuild shed a Spit on 1st test flight. also that same day a few practice displays by a few other resident types.
This must be classed as an airshow.
As i have paid to enter along with say 6 coach loads of school kids, and a few coaches of OAP’s on a day trip out.
what would it be classed as then.
Duxford being a Public airfield i guess. and Brunti a private airfield. the Private airfield i would have thought would have lesser restrictions with it being a private event.?
As the the aircraft is now bein treated as a fair weather aircraft, my guess #2 flight will be at the end of Feb/early March.
I doubt it will be a public or revenue making event though.
Would be another chance of makeing a few £s towards up keep missed again .
Asked the question before . why cannot the public go and see a test flight . its not as if the flight is a display.
One can go to Duxford anyday of the week pay to enter and stand with a few bus load of school kids and other day visit punters and see a test flight
of a new warbird etc. or even a practice dispaly.
What is the diffrence Duxford being Museum yes . but Brunti is also classed as a museum , is it not?.
For them wanting money so bad and them having a prime money maker without to much effort than park a few thousand cars and take the money is a chance missed that i cannot understand.
they would have not had the money issue they have today if they had took £20 per car of the parked traffic outside Brunti on 1st flight day.
Hi…
Midland Counties in Hinckley have a rather large aviation second hand section…well worth a look!
Regards;
Steve
Must go along with this warehouse . full of aviation books mags etc new and 2nd hand. a short drive up the M69 from Cov to Hinckly turn off A5 north for about 1 mile . Midland counties is on the New industrial estate . ON YOUR RIGHT .
like i said about 5 minutes drive from the outskirts of Cov M6 . TO M69 . to A5
also as been posted above and just a short distance down the A46 from the M6 is Coventry air museum. kill to birds with 1 stone here by having a good look around the museum based aircraft and the selection of books and models. i would say you could go from the Museum to midland counties book warhouse by car in around 15 minutes at legal speeds.
Thanks for the links . very helpfull.
was just looking in on a few crash sites i know of in the local area, and the crater just west a few miles from Bramcote, and looking on maps and recent google earth images what looks like the outline of a bomber footprint . in said crater.
Happy new year
RIch.
Nice effect im sure this type of image is really best viewed in a large print format for the best effect.
done a bit of this type of work in the past and on a PC monitor just doe not do it any justice, would suggest you have a few shots done out in poster or at leats A3 . nice pics .
Edit
just checked those images on 360 on your web site .
must say they are stunning the effect is great . what a diffrence to the normal way images are shot.
great work
Plague of the country I’m afraid.
i have lost count of the amount of memorials that have been stolen around the midlands over the past 12 months. leand and copper from church roof”s and schools and other buildings is a daily event.
also main line rail lines being put out of action 3 times due to power lines being ripped from the ground and power control box’s being stripped of buzz bars .
there’s a massive market for such metals in the new up and coming Eastern European countries. most of our industries have gone to theses areas and this is the reason for a lot of metal thefts.
when i worked in Banury for a few years a lot of the polish and other Eastern Europeans would drive back home most weekends with scrap to sell and then bring back cheap booze and contra band cigarette’s to sell . all in all a very good weekend earner.
no doubt where all this metal theft is going . they are bleeding this country dry . and also taking our past and if they can steal our infrastructure.
Some smashing pictures .
and nice to sepak to you on Sunday . cheers Rich.
Yes must agree with all that went along on Sunday.
Weather was nice but very cold . good layout of aircraft outside.
My young Son enjoyed himself, thou the cold got to him near the end Bless:diablo:
Thanks to all at Cov for a good afternoon .
and have a good safe and prosperous 2008.
Could this be anything to do with the possibilty of the Vulcan doing a bit of a round-robin at both shows?
Just wondering out loud…
Regards;
Steve
No. the dates where in place well before the 1st flight of 558.
Good advice above . if the light is poor and you have to use a slow shutter speed under 1/300th . than use the in camera image steady shot that this camera model as built in.
The centrefold is amazing, 474 in her new colours over the Derwent Dam.
If you’ve not seen it, join and get a free copy of the journal!!
Peter
Must agree that center fold picture by John Dibbs of the Lancaster over the Derwent Dam is a cracking image . The whole Journal is excellent thou. and worth £3 of anyones money . go get a copy.
Are Classic Flight doing the poppy drop over Bedworth this year on 11th November. If so what aircraft is/are being used?
The British Legion in “Beduth” proudly claim that the town is the only one in the UK to have held a rememberance parade consistently on Armistice Day (whereas most of those that still do it have moved it to the nearest/following Sunday).
Roger Smith.
Bedworths Armistice day parade falls on the Sunday this year, and Nuneatons normal Rememberance Sunday takes the slot. Have no idea if the Classic flight as any poppy drops planned for events this year . maybe one of the guys from Classic flight can fill us in on things. Beduff will have a normal
Rememberance sunday parade.
Poppy red anyone?
