Count me in will be there for sure.
thank’s for the heads up
I think if my questions could be answered in a business-like manner, it should be possible to turn around the opinions of the doubters. The problem is, there has been no response to this. Which just makes it harder to believe.
I want to believe it will work. But I am sensible. I need to see a viable plan. Dreams are great, but financiers need more than dreams to lend money.
There must have been a structured plan in order to have convinced the Lottery Heritage Fund that it was viable.

I must agree with you david burke theres going to be a massive gap in aviation aircraft in years to come at airshows . No one is going to tender for a jag or tonka or harrier if there is not a slight chance of it ever being able to perform at an airshow etc. would be just a waste of time and money and most will be lost to the scrap man . will be a few warbirds on the display circut and that will soon loose its luster to the public and could be the downfall of most of the warbirds in this country . you have to look a bit further than your nose and look at the future say 5 – 10 years time . what happens when say the plods in london pull the plug on the BBMF what do we do than just say we aint going to give money for it let them go in museums or cry when they go to the usa .the vulcan to the sky is a big move for the uk and one that will benfit our aviation pleasures for years to come .if you want it all to end in 10 years time when your children or grand kids want a sunny afternoon out then help out now . or take your offspring to the fast food bars and talk about how things where.
Point i would like to make is that it was a great aircraft at airshows etc. what other cold war era aircraft have we got flying at shows hunters yes but look at all the other jets we had and will never fly again. what happens when the jags go and harriers and such theres going to be a massive gap in the jet side of displays . if we dont start getting complex aircraft on the show circuit now you wont have a cat in hells chance in years to come . and your warbirds will soon fly the nest when the public get sick of seeing old pre war aircraft they will stop going and no money for the ops . si it works in a lot of ways for the airshows of the future . if xh558 is a winner and proves to be well liked it may help get other cold war jets being kept a live a glimmer of hope . you may also find the websites may be posting more news than before as the tvoc did not own 558 until last week it was the waltons that owned and said what was to be . the tvoc have not really paid a lot for 558 it was for the massive supply of vulcan spares that the waltons paid a high price for when the mod cleared out raf stafford and all vulcan parts . they bought the lot from the mod.

Going of track abit here.
What a great story this thread as turned out to be for that little boy and the whole class. A free trip to duxford for the class would be a good gift and get the young lad in a spit cockpit.
Lets show the modern day teaching in schools that this type of thing is both rewarding and very educational. And must be encouraged in some ways as this is the main aim of all the aviation museums at the end of the day. Its to be educational for future generations this could set a trend for other schools
Must agree with some of the last comments why as it been restored and hangered at our expense only for his financial gains when sold to the usa. Why its been kept quiet i guess has its not suppose to be there getting a freebie at our expense.

But it’s not there know and have not seen it around or have i been walking around with welding goggles on to long . would get some pics if its still around the airfield .It was in a very poor state last time i seen her 10 years ago .
Does anyone else have any more Farnborough photos in COLOUR taken between 1958-66, as I went to all those shows and would love to see more scans of slides from those years? Those were the golden years of the British aircraft industry and since then it’s been all downhill!
I will look up the loft somtime this week have got the xmas light’s etc to put up there . Theres a pile of them sbac program books up there in a corner from around the 50s upwards will see what i can dig out and scan .
Looks to be in not a bad state the nose front oleo is still ok as its not sunk down . The cosford one is in a worst state as the nose as dropped . This one looks ok from a stand back view theres no sign of sagging at the front end .
