Was a cracking sight and sound on Sunday with the BBMF Spit and Hurri swooping down the Severn Vally.

I spent the time slot at Highly station. this being the location for the big Battle reenactment was taking place at 1pm. cracking battle on the station and rail lines and siding’s.

The Germans won the battle and defeated the British and US troops.

The place was covered with blank spent cartridge’s cracking battle and very close to the action for the crowds that watched .

The Spit and Hurri came along just after Sir Winston Churchill gave is speech .
with the 2 aircraft swooping down the Vally and around the Station 3 passes each so very good.

Was most impressed with the whole set up of this event .

Worth every penny and a must do if you have never been.

At least my bit of TV licence fee as gone towards something decent for a change.

One thing can be said about top gear they allways mix Aviation in to the series they produce.

Cannot see anything wrong with what Clarkson and May & the Hamster do .
    allways good entertainment .

Haha at RIAT last year i felt the heat and we were quite a way back 😀

Was just as hot at Waddington 2007 , despite the constant rain the heat was felt and very welcome it was to along the crowd line,
a few images of the scale of the bomb run.

I love looking at very old engines find them very interesting things.

Looking at the use of what looks like Bronze and brass on a lot of the bits . would say its got some marine history to it.

Would at a guess say it could be a early diesel . this just a hunch by looking at the top of the head and what look like some kind of compression screws either side of the pots. in relation to the inlet and outlet valves . or its a petrol engine. ??

Nice find and look forward to the outcome and more history of this lump.

Not having a dig at tvoc I know it was a private firm but in the bigger picture of things the display truck as allways been a problem its brakes did not work and also tvoc have not had a vehicle capable of moving it around the country.

They have had a couple of years to sort it out but a dennis says it is a low priority in the money pool but as this is an educational and pr marketing tool in line with the lottery instructions they need to sort it out.

The rest of the problems i agree it just goes to show the people holding the purse strings does not know what she is doing more cash wasted when we need it to fund flying i expect a loss was made again at cosford when you take fuel transport merchandise etc etc

I have heard that 558 needs now another flight for the airtest and then another one for the DA for the CAA this again is more money and indeed a prime indication that the management still have not grasped the full cost of operating the old girl all done in two flights was the idea from tvoc we are now 5 flights and still no viable product.

I offered to look and repair the Trailer last year . also had intrest from some of the old forum members willing to muck in if nesaceary . Sadly TVOC was not intrested ,

Sadly the offer as moved and the Mechanics down the road on the A5 from a very large Haulage firm who where going to do the work for me,
have moved on to other projects now.

Not aircraft related really, But having worked for Hella lighting in Banbury for many years before it closed last year.
producing lexan polycarb front headlight Lens for the car industry,
on the production line they used to polish out any small scuffs etc with T.CUT.
they also used this method on the rear light lens that are made from Acrylics.
not sure how this would work on aircraft canopies .
