I live 500 yards away and no-one phoned…. how odd….
they kicked me out with memberships dwindling…even more odd :S
and now this has happened
i bet half the members are snowed in at home as they live in the sticks
yet im still willing to help, because its about the aircraft, not having vendetta’s against people
steve if theres anything i can do to help i am willing, even to come in and shovel snow
i remember when it happened with the Canberra in quite bad conditions, storms i think it was, heavy rain flooding the place and High winds…she was a pain to put back down too
Good luck with the descent guys.
Incidentally talking of XL319 and not knowing much about her, was she ever ground run / taxied after her arrival at NEAM in the same way as the examples at Southend and Wellesbourne… or has this never been possible?
not quite sure but i heard when i was a member of NEAM from some of the older members, in the 90’s she used to be ground run, possibly by the APU? but then it just kinda stopped one day so they left it, john,Thunderbird167, can either of you say anything on this??
I think its a credit to the design team that the crane only registered 1.5tonnes at any one time. Even with a lot of kit removed the C of G must be all but perfect.
i thought it was the crane company that limited what they would lift to 1.5 as they didnt know the full potential of the crane? or did i hear wrong
The crane company would certainly know the capability of the crane. Looking at the type it would probably be capable of lifting 50 tonnes. The comment about the weight would be the load that was registered on the crane during the lift. This the crane driver would know at all times.
yeah i thought i had heard wrong, it was a job well done anyway, good to see her on all 3 again..although..she did look good from the A19 at an angle…could certainly see her more
well done to teamNEAM
pics of the aircraft chris?
