The UK E-3D were upgraded with the RSIP upgrade (Radar System Improvement Program) and the French E-3F are being upgraded to that standard (3/4 should have been upgraded by now and the fourth is expected in may 2006.)

In the future there will be many geopolitical changes and Europe needs and will need to have its own nuclear deterrent forces, and actually that is carried out by France and the UK, we shouldn’t kill those assets. Who knows if one day Europe could only rely on itself to defend its own interests.

I got some question … y is it that the Rafales and MiG-29s have their butts in a lower position when parked than when they are taxing?

    About the Rafale,

Taxing or not doesn’t make any change. This black Rafale is a C model (prototype) whereas the other is a M model with a stronger landing gear in order to be catapulted. So the Rafale M nose is always higher.

Wow. That looked like a burst of patriotism to me. I just hope I’m not included in that ‘litle englanders’ comment.

That especially looks like incredible nonsense “criticize something from my country and I will criticize something from yours in return whatever it is, plus I don’t accept any remarks and I’m going to insult you just…. because you are English.”

That’s simply incredible. I hope they will let this poor guy leave his mental hospital one day.

Please, can someone tell me how to differentiate visually an Indian Su-30K from an Indian Su-30MKI?

I also think it´s a EF, regardless of the caption. The air intakes are square and the wingtips are different.

    It is a Typhoon.

We shouldn’t care about people insulting some other people as a whole.

We were speaking about this story in the “Rafale on USS Eisenhower ” thread.

    The aircraft involved were 8 SEM, 1 Rafale M and 1 E-2C

I haven’t heard anything about this event in the French media. I may have missed something though (but in this case it should have been discreet.)

Several websites had relayed the news.

There were 8 SEM, 1 Rafale M and 1 E-2C. It seems they couldn’t go back to the CdG because of the bad weather and one made an emergency call (lack of fuel or mechanical failure, they aren’t clear), anyway they must have been low on fuel.

It seems the US air force didn’t allow them to land on a military airbase and so they stayed overnight at Atlantic city airport in a federal area of the airport. It seems two of the pilots stayed with the aircraft while the others went in a hostel and maybe some French soldiers were brought at the airport.

It is very strange we haven’t heard that much about that story. It seems quite a serious diplomatic flaw.
