Roger- a wonderful idea, certainly something I would pay to see. It would definitely appeal to families too.
As for the Beacon, ok the money could be used elsewhere, but if it brings more people into our hobby, I can quite happily live with it.
As for the parking charges- I have no problem. £3.50 for entry into one of the best aircraft collections on the planet? Bargain!

What looked very much like a Hercules was orbiting East Mids about 20 mins ago
A Wildcat does have some relevance to the Shuttleworth Collection, as hinted at in Mark12’s post. Perhaps the machine will appear in a scheme identical to that worn by AL246 during it’s time at Loughborough, which of course is where the Shuttleworth Spitfire and Sea Hurricane came from.
I always enjoy visiting Shuttleworth, which offers an interesting, well rounded, day out. This aeroplane will be a wonderful addition and I for one shall not complain when it graces the skies above Old Warden.
A very good show, with a varied line up. The only downside for me was the commentator, who clearly had the best of intentions, but just didn’t seem to know when to give it a rest and let the aircraft do the talking.
Great value at £12 and well done to all who organised the event and took part.
Stunning livery and equally stunning image. Thanks for posting.
An interesting project with a fascinating result. So what if it isn’t to scale, the spirit of the Mosquito is there, which I’m sure is what they were aiming for. In any case, it is a damned sight more than anything I’ve ever achieved in that field. I’m fairly certain that applies to many of those overly critical of the project too.
Would love to see it over here at some point.
This idea of advertising books in your signature really is a double edged sword isn’t it?
Can anyone tell me the name or subject of his next book? I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have spent a couple of hours in this mans company. A national treasure!
Thanks in advance,
Dean
Well done on Saturday’s event, very enjoyable. Had an equally good experience afterwards, when we travelled 20 minutes up the road to the Carpetbaggers Museum at Harrington.
Any plans to offer rides in the Link Trainer to paying guests? I’d put my name down for a crack at it.
Once again, well done.

The Rolls Royce Heritage (sounds better than hysterical, doesn’t it?) Trust does indeed have a single Peregrine on display. I think, though am not certain, that it is on loan from Steve Vizzard (unsure of the correct spelling so do forgive any errors). I walk past the engine most weeks. I’m due in again on Wednesday so I’ll check over its state with your requirements in mind.

EDIT: Beat me to it!
Currently under restoration to fly at Derby Airfield, though some way off that goal at the moment. They have open days occasionally, well worth a visit. Someone from the project posts on here at intervals. They do have a website.
What a pity it is that Mr Swift seems to hold his Grandfather, and the other brave men who flew as part of Bomber Command, with such utter disdain.
I flicked through this book a few weeks ago whilst browsing in WH Smith. I am very glad I stuck with my decision to not buy it.

Explains the two at East Midlands yesterday 🙂
I thought my eyes and ears were deceiving me!
Steve, many thanks for the response. I tried to PM you but you appear to have a full inbox.

Does anyone have any idea who was in the cockpit of PT462 if it is indeed 1990?
Many thanks in advance,
Dean
I’d recommend the SkyBusters option. They are available from Asda and Tesco for a few pounds each. The subjects are not what they used to be, it was this range that I played with as a child, the first was a Tornado, and went on to include machines such as the C130, A10 and Harrier. I still see these occasionally at Duxford for under a fiver. My SkyBusters then made way for the 1/72 Corgi aircraft sat in the cabinet not far from where I’m sitting now.
Good luck!
