Great stuff, really looking forward to making my first visit to Brunty, even if it may be a damp one!!!!
Thankyou for replying, appreciate it.
See you Sunday!

What happens if the weather is as poor as forecast, will the event still go ahead?
Cheers, Dean
Piper Aerostar G-ADRW, not very inspiring…..

A list isnt normally out until a few weeks before the event. As we have seen this weekend, vintage aircraft are unpredictable, hence no list with 2 months to go.Can’t wait, FL is the one definite event I go to each year, I dont care if people do whinge that they get bored of seeing “the same stuff”. I’m incredibly thankfull to Mr Grey and Friends for consistently putting on a damn good show. The anticipation of whats going to be there is half the fun!!!! Just my point of view of course…

Enlightenment! Many thanks chaps, very nice to know.

“Not to be out done, the Nimrod had its first engine runs for 3 1/2 years”
I’m sure I saw this fly at Legends last year, or does “engine runs” mean something different, such as calibration?
Stunning! Looking forward to seeing this machine during the summer.
Many thanks for sharing those images.

Two Hundred Thousand GBP, a little out of my price range…

Thanks for that, its always interesting to know the logic behind these decisions.
Best wishes,

Other than being historically accurate, what are the benefits and disadvantages of using fully matt paint? Looking forward to seeing this aeroplane.
Thanks,
Dean
Yep, she’s great, even stomached a day at Old Warden a few weeks ago and is going to Bruntingthorpe on the 25th with me. The reason the blue prints were at hers is I plan to take them down to OW next time we go, thought the chaps down there may want a look at them, its only an hour away from her house in Corby. I’ve blueprints for the Grasshopper, Siskin IIIA and the Sopwith Gnu. Iv’e also got an erecting and rigging diagram from Glosters for the Gauntlet and an erecting ‘in the field’ diagram for the Gamecock (both very big sheets).
I’ll post the pics asap.

If they are Siskin wings, I think I have some of the original blue prints which may shed some light. They are currently at my girlfriends, so when I can get at them tomorrow night i’ll take a few photo’s. I’ve also got one of the original wing rigging diagrams for either the Bristol Bulldog or Gloster Gauntlet, this may rule these two types out of the equation. I’ll post pictures as soon as I can…
Best wishes,
Dean
Many thanks, interesting stuff!

Fantastic, many thanks for your help. Do the squadron records survive? It would be great to find out the identity of the machine and the exploits of its crew.
Thanks again,
Dean
I didnt know that Balloon Wood was anything to do with RR, it’s just a short trip from where I live, is this the Balloon Wood nr Bilborough (with the awful crossroads) ? In a strange twist, the famous ‘Roundhouse’ loco works in Derby are being worked on for RR. Derby station is being rebuilt at the moment, a complete mess.
