fft, isnt the F22 the first ever a/c to launch munitions from internal bays at supersonic speed ?
I read somewhere the main problem is to prevent the missile
‘floating’ up into the bay once released. So they must have solved it somehow.
They have Vertical Eject Launchers that throws the missile at over 40 G’s
Wonder if they use the same mechanism for SDB’s
“Six AMRAAM Vertical Eject Launchers—each just over 3 feet long—punch air-to-air missiles out of the Raptor fuselage with a force of 40 G”
I really never thought that our pakistani friends PLA, and Yahoo25 wud be so much of help in nailing down the doubts abt the LCA with their invaluabe supports they gave in the form of either digging up old articles or in collecting so much of materials abt LCA … frankly I’d not have put so much effort, but its really notable that our friends across the border are really concerned abt our project and are giving their full support in nailing every other problem that might be encountered – atleast in forums…. Tks my dear friends
and Yahoo … if u can post more older articles, i’d be glad as am now collecting articles , so frankly It wud be helpful, if u can dig-up anything related to the Sofma, Harriers, Westland Helicopters, Sea Kings and of Course HMS Hermes, It wud be of really grrr8 help to me …tks in advance
Arent we really lucky to have such friendly helpful neighbour’s Blackcat ? 😀
And Yahoo may I ask you for the source of all your articles so that we may collect it ourselves ? Thanks.
Arthur did mention that the nose was small, now if only he could mention in relation to what ? ,it’d solve a lot of confusion. Even I’d admit the LCA nose does look a bit small when you compare it to a 747 😉
Su-30 MKI makes emergency landing, Idiots put a Mig-29 pic.
This is what I got from Jai’s Japanese link.
“From July 5th, Air Self Defense Force participates the practice which
the Seek Spartan executes (the co-op thunder). This practice strategy
ability of the unit, has designated that improvement of the
Japanese-American joint coping ability is assured as purpose by
executing the Japanese-American combined training. We participate in
co-op thunder practice from 1996, this time become 8th participation.

What I vaguely understood from this article is that the F-15 went directly to Alaska from Japan and were met by KC-135’s named “Seek Spartan” ?? or over an area called “Seek Spartan” ?? Hopefully I’m partially right .
Good pictures though ..!

This may have been mentioned somewhere before in this thread , But how did the Japanese Air Force F-15’s reach Alaska ? Did they also take the “shorter” 😉 route to Alaska via Egypt,Portugal ……… ?
I think this one is a better pic.
Deleting old post.
Harry , that photo was from a Digi-Cam.I doubt if I’d get a better picture.
From “Today’s Times of India”
Pune software firm involved in F-35 project…
FYI and FAOI ….. Gajraj DOES NOT mean White Elephant and these kinds of damn errors are created by these western guys who report and convert what they think might be right or close to what they guess cud be the fact ….
so guys next time don make such mistakes…
Can you give it a rest , I’m getting tired of your constant complaining. Some people do make mistakes and it dosent matter if they are westeners or anyone else. You dont have to call them “Damm” westeners which makes you look like an idiot . I’m sure your foreign language skills are’nt that great either ,so next time look inward before whining.
So , what are the reasons that Australia went for the WedgeTail rather than the Phalcon ? And on a sidenote ,are Israeli-Aussie defence relations very high ?
IAF looks for ‘judicious mix’
NEW DELHI: The IAF hopes to bolster its depleting fighter fleet in the coming years with “a judicious mix” of frontline combat jets like the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the Russian Sukhoi-30MKIs and the French Mirage-2000-Vs.
The IAF force requirement projections hold that India needs 44 fighter squadrons to deal with a situation wherein there is “a full conflict” with Pakistan and a “dissuasive posture” has to be maintained against China.
In the remote possibility of a simultaneous conflict with both Pakistan and China, India will need 55 fighter squadrons to “hold” Pakistan and “defend” against China.
But the current IAF fighter squadrons number only around 35. “Effective airpower is required to neutralise an enemy in the shortest possible time, with minimum collateral damage…we can ill-afford a long-drawn conventional war,” says an officer.
Apart from the 140 Sukhoi-30MKIs to be manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) over the next 15 years, the IAF is looking to induct five squadrons of the ‘Tejas’ LCA by 2015.
For the 737 (There are numerous types and configurations)..
The IL-76 has far more internal space than a 707, and an A50 is a lot roomier inside than an E-3. Even when i’m comparing the A50 prototype which i’ve been in (used to be at the Chortkov technical school in the Ukraine) with all the extra room for test gear, to a standard NATO E-3A.
Here’s the data for the Il-76,
Specifications:
Maximum Payload 50000 kgs (IL-76TD), 40000 kgs (IL-76T)
Maximum Take Off Weight; 190,000 kgs
Cargo Hold Dimensions; 20.00 x 3.40 x 3.40 metres
Cargo Door Size; 3.15 x 3.20 metres, closed by rear loading ramp
Noise Category; Stage 2
Roof-mounted Gantry Hoist with 10,000 kgs capacity
Internal winch with 20,000 kgs capacity
Maximum Hold Volume; 180 cubic metres
Runway required for max. take off weight; 2300 metres

Suprisingly, I’m finding it hard to find the internal volume of a 707 !
Wolverine,
I’m a little confused about your last post concerning the US over-reliance on AEW etc…what we are talking about here is WAR, DEATH..your posts are taking on the aspect that this is a game, and essentially Americans don’t play fair….RIGHT!!! Thats the whole point!!! we didn’t play fair by dropping atom bombs on Japan, and the Germans didn’t play fair invading little Denmark and Belgium….One on one, any pilot is the equal of another..but this is not a video game…If I’m going into combat I want overwhelming force, I’m not trying to play fair!! The real power of America is not our military per se it is the economic and industrail strength we possess so we can build, pay for, and fly 3000 top of the line fighters, 15 aircraft carriers etc etc…and if a war erupts we could ramp up production and start spitting out F-22’s at 50 a day…thats how we won World War II, sure our soldiers were brave, but no braver than the Germans or Japanese, the big difference was our guys were supported by a huge arsenal, they were never alone..and never will be, that is why you see 200 Marines with Cobra gunships and 12 F-18’s attacking an Al-Quieda target…Some people think its cowardice to use such force…but its smart!! and if your the enemy and you look out your window and see that, it can change the tactical situation.
Look at the Iran-Iraq war, lots of bloodshed, 8 years of fighting, yet in Gulf War One the US and our Allies destroyed the Iraquis in a matter of days!! this isn’t cowardice its War!!! not a game…as much as you would like it to be.TTP
TTP, there’s nothing wrong in using your whole might when facing a war, and everyone knows who’s the best in the buisness, but that is not the point, but when you do compare aircrafts induvidually ,some aircrafts “may” be superior than others but that situation can be rectified by AWACS and Jammers and Intelligence agencies better logistics. The US comes out far far ahead in these areas.
But where the results of these exercises may come in handy is when we compare induvidual platforms and here the Flanker and the F-15 were compared and the Flanker did outperform the F-15 in some areas . Hopefully both sides may have learnt something out of these exercises . The US certainly needs the excercise, when the main rival it may face in the future also carries hordes of Flankers of similar type. Like Wolverine said ,the US is far more likely to have a war with that other country and so it’s of no concern to India if some of “secrets”(RCS, heat sigs) were given away. It’s the country that is likely to face the Americans and their products in the Future that should be more concerned.
Regarding India,we face a tough neighbourhood where nuclear and missile technology proliferation is the norm among it’s main neighbours and thus the military in India has different priorities than that of the US.India maintains it’s military based on the future potential and capabilities of it’s main rivals.
No one cares if some other country in our region lacks the ability or the foresight to plan ahead .
Re. :”The Number of Air Bases in Western China” comment the other poster posted , I hope he sticks to his picture posting ways . I cant understand where his country even came up in this “How good are US pilots abroad on excersices? ” thread .That particular country’s pilots depends upon the manufacturer’s advertising to judge opposing fighters and systems. If he wants to discuss his own country’s airforce then I request him to open another thread or to keep participating in the number of threads that are already open about that country.
PS. The Indian Su-30 (non MKI) version will be soon gone to be upgraded into an MKI .
Another highly reliable proof that PAF will gripen……
Good one ,SabreAce. ROTFLOL 😀 😀 😀
