RE: Airplane accidents
I expect there would be many varied view points to this post.
An older aircraft may be more unreliable due to fetige (unsure on spelling) or worn-out components. However, a well looked after a/c would be expected to last a long time. However, Older a/c (as T5 points out) may be more reliable due to the length of time they have been flying.
New a/c have accidents aswell. Airbus lost several A320s, I believe, during testing of the auto pilot and fly-by-wire systems. The kegworth disaster @ East Midlands was a BMI 737 (brand new) an engine failed… should i go on…
Basically I think that any aircraft is as reliable/unreliable as the engineers/operators make it, despite its age. When your numbers up…its up and i suppose the same may apply to aircraft!

RE: Your worst flight……
Wasn’t there somthing posted on people’s bad flights fairly recently????
I saw savage planet (ITV1) last night and there looked to be some horrible flights on there. A KLM 747 in a dive after the engines choked on volcanic ash over anchorage. It was dropping without power…the usual vomet flying around the cabin…bit nasty. Anybody else cath that? (the programme…not the vomet!)

RE: Flight Log Book?
Fantastic Idea T5! I’m game.
Maybe if we ask the web master kindly…we may be able to have another section on the forum for flight logging.
If not I think a seperate (joint ventured) web site would be best.

RE: When the Queen….
Didnt there used to be a dedicated Royal BAe146 that was sold as it was costing too much? (same with the ship-britannia)
The queen and her people used a BA A319 (G-EUPN) to fly to Italy a couple of years back. (I serviced this a/c at NCL last year and it had a broken coffee machine. I hope the queen wasnt subjected to such common machanic behaviour!!) lol
