RE: Airport pic of the day- 01/04/02
RIP.
They should ‘do them up’ and open them as a hotel, restaurant bar and entertainments complex for us enthusiasts!

RE: Mid-air refueling
Yes, and we must (or the airlines) think of the passengers. A 14 hour flight to Tokyo from London is murder to most-even us plane people! Airlines would have to totally review their in flight procedures, policies, facilities and safety if it ended up being 22 hours rather than 14!
As mentioned, its a good idea, just too costly and in most cases Unnecessary.

RE: JMC Newcastle – Corfu Summr 2002
An A320 operated on one route from NCL during last summer. That was the weekly flight to (Innsbruck (I think))
A canadian crew operated these flights.

RE: GENERAL DISCUSSION FORUM SPECIAL!!
I am also still in full time education in the UK. I hope to go into Civil Aircraft Engineering after my A-levels.

RE: New Jumbo Variant
These longer flights would be almost unbearable for the passengers. This is why the companies are trying to make the aircraft more like the floating towns of ferries and cruise ships. (e.g the A380 development with it’s bars, casinos, cinemas, restaurants etc…)
SIA already have a bar onboard their 744s, am I right?

RE: New Jumbo Variant
Yeh, I think it was the one Saab mentioned last week. The unmarked A340 in the states with all the aerials on?

RE: New Jumbo Variant
Some airlines do state some flights from the UK to OZ as non-stop. However, It is not physically possible for the aircraft to fly ALL the way. They do stop off in the far-east, but the ‘non-stoppers’ simply stop to re-fuel. In most cases the passengers dont even disembark. It is then down to opinion whether the flight is non-stop or not.

RE: Greatest Airlines of the World
I would certainly agree with the initial list. BA KLM and Qantas being emphesised.
I would also considor gulf air, perhaps not overly huge, but they have a history (recently celebrated 50years). SAA also springs to mind.
