Well, if you want to dream, I have another `dream´ for you http://www.stratocruiser.org/index.html :eagerness:
But you are right, having the New-York C-97 in Europe one day woul be phantastic!
Any idea when this is this year ?

next one will be April 16th
There is one event that fits in your requirement: http://www.airliner-classics.de at Speyer (south-western Germany) in August.
Rides with Lockeed Super-Constellation & Douglas DC-3 from Switzerland and Lufthansa Junkers Ju52 from Lufthansa. Also there is expected another DC-3 and several `small´ airliners like de Havilland Dove & Beech 18.
If you also like static airliners: 500 meters away is the http://www.technik-museum.de with classic Airliners like Vickers Visount & Boeing 747 (amon many other aircraft) to be exhibited
@ Mothminor: pics are made by RIMOWA for media use. I have not been at http://www.kaelin.aero – yet…
This `Bestmann´ is a Yak-11 project. unfortunately I do not know any Details regarding that aircraft.
Seems to be a very interesting restoration facility: If you look at their webpage, you can find a Hawker Hurricane restoration Project 🙂
Have done a little story regarding this project (including some pics like this of the aircraft´s construction in Southern Germany)

Currently this machine is at Duebendorf for installation of the internal systems. The plan is to have it in the air as HB-RIM next spring
You have to wonder what else might come along….!
Gotha G.IV bomber ??? just kidding :stupid: Really impressive, all those TVAL aircraft!!
Hi Fouga23,
due to permanent problems with the landlord we decided to quit all our plans at Mendig.
Some static items are now at http://www.luftfahrtmuseum-wernigerode.de Most of the ejection seat collection is stored by one of our members.
Flying Aeronca (from 1938) N127KM is now at http://www.fliegendes-museum.de
and finally the Fouga D-IFCC was flown to Padernorn airport some weeks ago. The trainer is now owned by several members of the http://www.quax-flieger.de group.
Might there be a chance that the two RAF B.E.2 are flown to the http://www.mothsatwoburn.co.uk/ meeting in August? Well, at least Geoffrey de Havilland was the designer of those great aircraft 🙂
Time to shed some light on all of this. Yes I am German and yes I presently live in Dubai, yes I have the intention to use the most noise sensitive airfield in all of Germany and yes the first politician has already complained. (many more confirmations to come). I presently own a SE5a, the BE2e, and hopefully soon an Albatros DVa plus an original wwi hangar set up in 1917 (including wwii bullet holes) on the cited airfield St Augustin Hangelar. The Se5a is presently in Mannheim and I would like to move it to the UK as soon as possible to get it registered there. This AC will also be made available to WAHT as will the Alb Dva once completed. The idea is to operate all these AC’s throughout the wwi commemorative events and a variety of, predominantly British, airshows. It is my hope that by providing these they will form a nucleus around which the WAHT can evolve its activities. Furthermore there is a Fokker Dvii in the works. It had been started by a dedicated amateur builder in Germany and after thorough investigations I have come to the conclusion, that although far progressed I will need to replace the fuselage, moving parts etc. Fortunately the basic structure of the wings is usable (if one is content with a slightly higher stall speed). The engine is flight worthy and tested and the radiator is being built by the German firm of Manfred Schneider. Just as in the war this AC will be a late arrival. My long term goal is to establish a small flying museum in Hangelar combined with a repair shop and possibly a restaurant. Given my present occupation and location the time frame for this is +/- 5 years. If you are interested I have posted part of my collection: http://www.jasta11.com please excuse the somewhat amateurish website it is homebuild (couldn’t be a true German if I did not make one apology at least)…. The Fieseler Storch (C-3 WerkNo 1049) will be registered and based in Germany. Hope this helps Cheers Oliver
Hi Oliver,
thanks so much that you now confirmed all those rumors about your collection. Looking very much forward to the day when your aircraft reside at Hangelar airfield!

This weekend we had our `open day´. Very diversified weather conditions (everything from sunshine to hail) and many visitors – and several interesting visiting aircraft.
Hope we have time in the near future to update our webpage http://www.fliegendes-museum-mendig.de
But certainly you find us at facebook: just search for `Fliegendes Museum Mendig´

Yesterday we received this Sud-Est Alouette II Helicopter from the http://www.luftfahrtmuseum-wernigerode.de in exchange for the Viking Dragonfly (owned by one of our members).
So for the very first time since the German Heeresflieger have left the airfield in 2007 a military helicopter can be seen in Mendig. We are very much looking forward showing the Alouette II to our visitors this weekend during the Open-Day.

Many of things had to be done during the last months, and many more still have to be done – but now we are on a good way for a proper collection.
May 11. – 12 will be an open day at Mendig airfield when we will open our hangar doors for interested visitors.
Meanwhile Antonov An-2 SP-AMP is in our hangar and a member of our group has obtained this replica Nieuport 11 Bébé from southern Germany.

Our members also have acquired many items from the now closed `Schleudersitzmuseum Soellingen´ at Baden-Airpark. Three trucks have arrived at Mendig airfield during the last weeks. The Mig-21 cocpit is privately owned and was shown at Baden-Airpark – and will be shown at Mendig from now on.
