Well well looks like Ryanair have had a change of mind and now will reimburse for hotel and food and other cost within reason.
MMMM Maybe he thought he could lose a good few passengers and saw an chance to earn soe browny points

I have often wondered that. When I flew frequently it was on company business on scheduled flag carriers and so I did not suffer the miseries of cheap flight. I have only used them a handful of times for “pleasure”, out of necessity and they do not appeal. Perhaps you are right – it will be interesting to see how air travel evolves over the next decade.

I have flown on a few cheap flights Ryan and Easy and found both to get OK and no problems.
Always been on time and all in all a good flight , the worst flight I had was with Air France ,sevice was dreadfull both way , with a 3 hour delay from Paris CDG with only a can of coke given out.

Why should he NOT pay compensation – its the LAW! If he uses the argument that the payouts would far exceed the airfares paid by passengers, then its his business model that’s wrong, not the law. He should be charging a bit more to cover these eventualities, not trying to wriggle away from the law when he feels like it.

And yes, hopefully lots of people will start to realise what a miserable operation Ryanair is.

    Andy

I did not say he should not pay the compo out , I said I could see his point of veiw after all the airspace closer had nothing to do with him and all to do with NATS.
Like I said before I think it will comedown to who’s lawyer has the bigger set.

O’Leary might lose passengers in the short term but my betting is they will all be back within a few months. However hard he tries to antagonise them they keep coming back for more.

This may be true and most people ar driven by price and they see the cheap flights and taken them.
But they come at a price , how many would know that the route to Frankfurt is in fact to Hann and a good way out of Frankfurt and that just one of many routes.
Will there come a time when people will realise that cheap flights are not always the best and go to other airlines that go to where they want to go.

To be honest is anybody shocked that Ryanair is not going to pay for hotels and food and where else you had to pay extra.
Insurance companys get away with it all the time , act of god and all that.
I can see his point to be honest , if you pay €10 for a flight ,why should they pay 100’s out in compo claims.
But if it was me I would want money back for extra expenses , but why not claim them from NATS after all they closed the airspace and now it looks like they acted too heavy handed.
As somebody who has watched this unfold on TV ,Iam with Ryanair just give back the ticket money ,but EU says pay them the compo.
Maybe it wil come dowm to who as the better laywer’s
Good luck O’Leary I think you ae going to need it ,you are going to lose a lot of passengers with this stand.

Any reason why people can’t just drive within the speed limit and render all of these devices academic?

Also: using the term “rape” in this context is more than a tad tasteless, methinks.

spoken like a true non driver there Lance , if I may say so.
Every driver speeds and any that say they dont is lying , sometimes you will exceed the limit by accident of course ,like early morning on the moterway with only you there ,70 mph seems slow..

But I will agree if we all kept to the limit they would not be needed , but then where would the money come from theat the sped camera’s bring in , more taxes?

Also agree the use of tern “rape” is in very bad taste

The Airbus aircraft I have worked on, the engine covers stay with the aircraft.

I was thinking that too would a new aircraft not come with a full set of covers and stay with the aircraft for life?

Yup, even more rediculousness… If, as we are to believe, they’ve re-evaluated aircraft’s tollerance to ash, why is it not safe to land before 2200 and yet it is safe to land after 2200?

    Andy

Yes it all got very silly.
I wonder how much is BA pressure and how much is beter knowlage of the ash clouds.
Looks like BA84 could be the first to land , he is over Birmingham at 26000feet

I find it very strange that all these BA flights should divert to Europe and Ireland , when there is open airport with lots of space and with a bus ride to Heathrow.
Prestwick , Glasgow Newcastle , Edinbugh are all open what are BA doing ?
