Same, although I’d rather the idiot be banned so we don’t have to put up with his irritating nonsense rather than having to try ignore him.

This is actually getting quite worrying. Reports seem to indicating that activity in the volcano is increasing and the winds are still bringing the ash cloud this way, so who knows when it will start clearing. Even if flights resume over the weekend I can’t imagine this mess getting sorted for quite a while!

    Paul

I would of thought even if flying starts tommorow ,it would take a good week to get back to normal.
There will not be any passenegers at the affected airport ,wll not that many.
The problem will be the rest of the world with 10’s of 1000’s of stranded passenegers with now where to stay and I suspect some fast running ot of money.

Do or even can airlines take out any sort of insurance against “acts of god”, even though it might be very expensive?

I bet they cant , even us mortels are not covered from act of god.
A good way for the insurance companys from getting out of paying

Not good for airlines at all, the losses of this event may become unbearable for some carriers!

Iceland has truly kicked some ash!:D

I can see oe than one or two going under.
Would be surpised if a Major carrier went under , but not completly shocked.

This clould s getting more worring now not only for air travellers but for other areas too.
SKY news ws reporting last night that SAS could lay off 2500 worker if this carries on for much longer.
In real terms how many airlines can afford to have all there aircraft sat at an airport racking up charges , it has been days now with no let up in site.
I suspect even the big airlines could not do it for much longer ,I bet some of the smaller ones must be even closer to the wire.
What about places that are dependent on air transport for food and such like.
Ther could even be shortages in shops of food.
But short of putting some giant fans in the air (only joking) there is nothing anybody can do

Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Seeing my idol Martin McGuinness shake hands with Ian Paisley proves that nothing is impossible. I am sure if this happened more often we would turn our back on jets and devise a completely new type of propulsion, maybe even powered by biofuel. 😀

I take it Deano’s cute Dash Deltas are basically jets with a prop stuck on?

    I GIVE UP

He was banned from another thread. He posts idiotic statements and we all retaliate. Perhaps we should just ignore him. It is unclear whether he is intentionally winding us all up or whether he is just a fool.

to be honest that would be the best.

I’ve been tracking most of the flights going into glasgow just today, theres two Iceland air 757’s going in, TF-FIV and TF-FIX which is a 753. Should be on final any second now. The transatlantic flights going into glasgow, will probably have to fly at a lower flight level.

    Wish i could make it on saturday. D;

It just so happens I am in Glasgow this weekend for a family party , so I could make it ,if it is worth while.

it makes sence to do that but how do they get there aircraft to Glasgow or Prestwick.
OK so they will have aircraft in the states stranded.
But will they have enough to do anything other than a token offering.

Perhaps aero engine manufacturers should pay as much attention to ash then they do to birds from now on!

Go on admit it you are doing this has a joke.
    You must be?
If you are not, then you really need to do some reading up about Ash does and how it affects aero engins.

On other site’s Iam on you would of been give a tem ban by now.

…..It is a very odd thought that there aren’t any planes trailing up there above that big grey thing. Myrtle Avenue must feel eerily quiet right now!

Just been up to Manchester for a GV i needed and it was very strange to see so many aircraft on the deck doing nothing.
I drove round all 3 terminals and it looks and feels like a film ,almost no car or people moving.
But most of all was how quite it was.

I really do think this is a massive over-reaction. I have still to hear a good reason why southbound flights are grounded.

what would you do then ?
Have a massive overreaction (your words) or an aircraft fall out of the sky because of the ash.
Has for southbound flights being OK,I think the French would disagree with you there.
Has of 5pm there will quite a few french airports closed and Paris CDG is closing at 11pm.
You comments have nothing do do with commen sence and all to do with ignorance off what the ash can do
