I read that story too and all I can say is that it must of been a slow news day.
There was no story , so 7 pilots have been done for drink driving.
I dont agree with drink driving and they deserved there bans , but to sack them would be wrong.

I think the man from the CAA said it well.

CAA spokesman said: “To suggest a pilot convicted of drink-driving should have his career end is quite harsh. We don’t think it should.

“Driving and flying are two separate things.”

Looked like a text book landing to me.
I bet it is one the crew have done many many times.
    But it looked good 😀

Did you ever see the photograph of the overweight passenger on an American Airlines flight? He was attempting to sit in one seat, but because of his dimensions, it was impossible. Half of the aisle was blocked because of the size of this man (safety risk?) and I doubt it was a particularly comfortable ride for the poor man forced to sit next to him.

With this in mind, I don’t think airlines – especially Air France – are extorting money out of their overweight passengers at all. If you can’t squeeze yourself into one seat, then you buy another, or to pay extra to travel in a class where wider seats might better suit you.

As I mentioned earlier about Air France, the airline will refund the second seat providing the flight is not full. An airline trying to extort money out of larger passengers would not offer the refund.

    fair point

If you can’t fit into a standard airline seat, Air France will be charging you double.

About time too. It has always annoyed me that I will be charged for excess baggage whilst portly fat ppl pay the same as me yet are taking an extra 100lbs of blubber.

sad way to extort more money out of people if you ask me.
    would this not be ilegal.

A man is taking British Airways to court after being asked to change his seat so that he was not sitting next to a child who was not his own.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/index.html

Is this common practice on other airlines ?

    Is it justified ?

No its not justified ,do women not abuse kids too.
This is the PC Police gone made and if it had of been me I would do done the same.
There is no way he should of been moved.

    Air France.
Manchester to Paris , the service was poor and that is being kind.
All we got was a stale french bun of some sort and a cup of what can only be called gray water.
At CDG we was delayed for 4 hours coming back (that did not bother me 4 more spotting hours ) but was was sat in a hot waiting room and all we got was a can or warm coke WTF
Coming back we got the same gray water and a sandwich ,with on it was some sort of meat that Iam sure was not really dead yet , completly uneatable.

groundhugger appears to be labouring under a misapprehension. As far as I am aware the journey through Wootton Bassett is NOT part of a route taking individual soldiers home. It is the route to a hospital in Oxford, John Radcliffe?, where inquests are opened and possibly post mortems carried out before the soldiers are returned home for burial.

The procession through Wootton Bassett started as a spontaneous outpouring of support and has become a focus not only for the grief of the families, but for the Nation. This Islamic group has stated they will not march during a repatriation ceremony. Therefore let them have their day, and on that day let Wootton Bassett be a ghost town, everything closed, no-one on the streets and no media coverage. Let the protesters see what an obnoxious and mindless minority they truly are.

Spot on ,this is what should happen

Islam4uk a protest group want to march through Wooton Basset to commemorate the deaths of Moslem people who have died in Afghanistan ,
They insist its not provocative but within their rights to do so !
what are your thoughts on this extremely sensitive subject

You hit the nail on the head with the highlighted part.
I dont like it and hope they dont do it but are our boys not fighting so that people can have the right to do and say what they want.
Did our men women not die in 2 world wars so others could express there opinions.
I think they have no right to march at Wooton Basset and should stay away.
Wooton Basset did not want all of this mthey just happen to be next door to the air base that brings the bodies home.
