Paul, the Ref in the Portugal V Holland match was the same ref as the one presiding over Australia V Italy. I saw all the matches up untill we lost out and he has always made dodgy calls! They were talking about it on morning tv down here and they even checked Spanish websites and the Spainish were angry over his calls (the ref came from Spain you see).

What good would it do if we had of protested, there are so many calls throughout the entire series that FIFA seemed to have ignored, our game came to a farcical end and FIFA won’t lift a finger because they aren’t interested in small countries playing in the finals, it’s Countries like Argentina, Brazil, England and Germany who bring in the money because it is bigger than religion to them.

I have to disagree about your last comment, what about the last world cup when S Korea got to the semi’s again that agreed that was also on the back of some very very dodgy reffing,Argentina got knocked out in the group round.
I dont think it is that FIFA dont want the smaller teams in the latter stage’s.
I think it is that FIFA dont want to admit that some of the ref a just plain rubbish and would not get a game in the localpark on a Sunday. I ask you how can FIFA ley a ref take charge of another game when he gave out 16 yellow and 4 red cards ina single match.
Who dowe blame for this it happens every world cup, maybe time togo the way of cricket and have a small group of professional full time refs.

the referees are just as bad, one player only has to breath on another and the ref blows for a free kick. saying that its good to see players being booked “and sent off” for diveing. i think Brazil was very lucky today.. ok they won 3-0 but they where outplayed at times by Ghana… and the second goal was off-side…..

I agree the refs in this world cup are bad.
The Holland Portugal game was spolit by a ref who IMHO just wanted to make a name for himself, some of his bookings and sendings off where farcical.
How can you book somebody for a headbutt when your back was to the player and since when has a headbutt been a bookable offence 😮
The ref must of been hoping that it did not go into extra time ,cos it would of finished has a 5 a side match 😮

I think that many will agree with my analogy in describing Italian players. Prima Donnas might actually be too light a description.

And as to you saying that Shevshenko being the best striker in the game today, I would disagree greatly. I think of Drogba, Henry, Trezeguet, Rossi, Raul, C. Ronaldo, Ronaldo and a bunch of others being far better than him any day of the week. He is good but not that great!

How do you think the so called greats of today would rate against the likes of Maradona , Charlton, Law,Mathews and the best of the lot George Best himself.
Could you imagine Best falling over because a defender looked at him, for that matter could you imagine him falling over just to get a penalty.
Holland and Portugal are the worst teams for that.
Has for defender what about the hard men off old , Smith, Souness Chopper Harris to name but a few ,they would not last a whole match and would for ever be banned for red cards.
Players of today are paid way to much money, I mean how can any team justify paying one player £135,000 per week 🙁 😮

Don’t think there will have been much, if anything, as most aircraft were simply landed in Canada or at other airports in the US (Boston, Bangor etc) or turned back, maybe via a refuelling stop in Keflavik and returned to there airports of origin (ie LHR, FRA etc)

    Scott

They would not of been any landings in the USA all of there airspace and airports were closed.
I know that there was a A33O of Austrian in Manchester,Gray Area and I made the quick run up for it.
It was there for fuel and did a U turn midflight
