I’d have to say either my avatar (Gripen), small, quick, buts packs a punch, or a Mirage III, simply stunning aircraft, (though i doubt that describes me)
How much does that helmet weigh? pulling significant G’s with a heavy helmet might not be too fun…
Please see this post about this very issue…

Well, this is something Swedish teachers always told us as big plus for Swedish, easy to learn and useful throughout Scandinavia. For me it is quite simple: I got friends in Sweden, they speak German, so I think it is only fair to learn their language, too. Last time, I was quite ashamed that I couldn’t form more then one sentence, while so many people spoke a pretty good German. Next visit I hope to say more then hi hi 🙂
I find Swedish fairly easy to read, write and sometimes understand (some accents are tough, like Skane) but it is very difficult to speak well, the inflections can be very tough. I’ve been told that no matter how long I take Swedish and how long I live in Sweden I will never sound like a native speaker. On the other hand alll my Swedish buddies have perfect English with either a perfect American or British accent.
Perhaps it’s because Finnish and Hungarian are not even European in origin?
Very observant! They are each others closest relative actually…. but since they “live” in Europe… well you know what i mean!
Russian is certainly my next language. I am working through Swedish at the moment and am getting there, but as I am working with military stuff it can be difficult (no English-Swedish aerospace or military dictionary that i have found). I was gooing to start Russian two years ago, but then started my PhD program and had to do Swedish.
BTW I dont think German is the hardest European language… Hungarian and Finnish I think are far harder. I learned German in uni and then worked for the US DoD in Bavaria, so I know speak with a Bayerisch accent. Most Germans think i am drunk or just stupid when is peak it now!
Ok… great answers and it makes sense i suppose.
But seriously, I was looking for a little more creativity… come back to me when you guys got some crazy story about it 😉 Keeps the day a bit more lively
I’ll be in Sweden from June to Decemeber of next year, just got my research sponsored by the Swedish National Academy of War Sciences, the National Defense College and the former head of the SwAF. Should be a good time! And yes, I will certainly make it out to Goteborg for a tour and will be spending hopefully quite a bit of time in Linkoping, probably get an apartment in Stockholm or Uppsala.

Tusen Tack Papa.. jag gillar Lansenar! En snyggt flygplan!

Only Lansen I’ve seen in person in one sans wings at the airport outside Visby next to an Aeroflot An-2…
What Lansen was it? Wasnt part of the Swedish Historical Flight was it? I only know of a couple airworthy ones left…
I know they’re in the Aerofax book, but my copy is 50 miles away!
50 miles away is next door where i live!
Sopwith Camel hands down….

Scary little incident for the Lear I am sure!
