wow… i cant believe this conversation is actually happening. Guess they opened up the asylum lately….
Ah. A FJ-3 or FJ-4 Fury. Thought it looks like a F-86 Sabre.
Basically is!!! Just navalized.
That is entirely incorrect. The MiG-25 was designed to counter the Lockheed A-12, the SR-71A’s predecessor and the expected CIA replacement for the U-2 for overhead reconnaissance of the USSR.
Yep, I was scolded for this in a paper i wrote a few years ago. Just checked the aforementioned book and your right. It was either you or T.C that right me about it. I did do a little looking into to make sure and it appears correct, the XB-70 – Mig-25 relation is incorrect.
Orko- I see you are in Istanbul. Any info on NATO exercises with both Greece and Turkey present??? Level of cooperation? (if any) Military relations with NATO framework etc???
see article :

Drone, thanks for the link. I had not seen it online, only in print.
And yes, i meant the Israeli Air Force. Sorry for any confusion.
Does Sweden have a precedent of doing this before?
Here are a couple more articles on it…

Swedens reasons are interesting… Very Swedish 😎 but interesting. Any other examples of this with military exercises??? (Obviuosly not just dealing with Isreal!!!)
USN
Thats a Fury i think… the USN did operate them.
Entropy – this is probably the first time when I am quoting myself 😉
AHHHHHH yes… very interesting… I am now going to drink even more.. 😮
Is that one of the Hungarian or Czech C’s?… Swedish ones say “Fara” rather then “danger” on the intake…
My favorite- ’nuff said
And certainly from what I have read the US officials did not usually ask too many questions of men travelling to Canada..
You certainly havent been riding in my car! I get alot of crap from US border guards!!! I was called a traitor for studying air forces in Canada rather then the US…
Ok as this thread resurfaced and I have my passport handy on page 5 of the US passport it says “Under certain circumstances, you may lose your US citizenship by performing voluntarily and with the intention to relinquish US citezenship any of the following acts….3. serving in the armed forces of a foreign government 4. accpeting employment with a foreign government…
Dave- Yes, when I am at home in Canada i keep the passport in the car as i drive across the border quite often (sometimes twice a month) and have had the unfortunate experince of driving two hours to the border and not having it! As I am in Europe for the summer it is obviusly in a much safer place!
Here is a challege! Anyone have some pics of Swedish interceptions? I know I have seen a few out there but cant seem to find them… Anyone got some?
There is an article in Aug 2006 AFM about just this… a VC.10 bringing home seven Tornadoes from Hill AFB in Utah… Yes the snow is very good there!!!!
They fly!
