The only person saying anything about houseboats is you

Umm yea… No one else finds it amusing that in the pdf you posted the target is a houseboat??? Just me?? Well ok then… I shall refrain from attempting to inject a little humor…

That’s exactly what i was thinking…seriously…who else has the ten thousand boat theory? Notice it said small attack boats, not simply speed boats…very different.

All those houseboat based threats better watch out!!! :diablo: Seriuosly, it the USN and all they have for a target is a houseboat????

Aluminum Overcast is doing flights in Billings on Tuesday & Wednesday. You can also take a ground tour. Call 1-800-FLY-NB17 to book a seat or visit http://www.b17.org for more details!

I think this whole scenario is a bit naive when it comes to northern Europe. You can’t seriously expect that WP would leave their northern borders more or less without defence. Eventhough Sweden and Finland were neutral that doesn’t mean they would act plain stupid. If WP makes a push through central Europe, they would be next in line. So maybe they would hop in on Nato side, maybe they would wait – but the major issue for a Soviet strategian here would be that you don’t know for sure!

Therefore, Soviet would need to deploy nearly the same amount of fighters in that area as well to secure their borders. Since SweAF was the worlds 4th largest airforce just 10-15 years earlier that would be a considerable amount of fighters…

    regards,
    Cliff

Tried to say this earlier… no one was listening 🙁 suprise

The WarPac would not have come close to air superiority-but it wouldn’t have mattered much anyway to the Russian tank commanders dining in Paris, would it?

I saw a Soviet cartoon about this once… Two Soviet generals dining in Amsterdam. One says to the other “So how did WIN the Air war?”.
Winning the air war irrevlant as long as the total war aims were achieved,

I am a little uneasy joining this thread, I know where it is heading, but as I am working on research concerning the Swedish Flygvapnet I dont think we can discount Swedish cooperation with NATO, especially if the Soviets are messing with Norway or the Baltic. Please refer to these articles for more information…

‘The Uneasy Imbrication of Nation-State and NATO. The Case of Sweden’ by Ola Tunander and ‘Sveriges relationer till NATO’ by the same author.

So we can probably include seven squadrons of Viggens, fighter and ground attack, in this equation.

There was this one Strike Eagle pilot flying over Europe who had to do a mission abort because his backseater got a case of explosive diarrhea. AWACS kept referring to the plane as “Stink 1” when they were routing him back to Lakenheath. I have a wav file of the conversation somewhere, it’s way too funny 😀

I have heard of this from an USAF colleague… got a link for it??
