Wasnt disagreeing about the Strv 121, but they are out of service. Swerve is correct they are in ready reserve though. Although I did see a pretty beat up Centurion (!) on the ferry back from Gotland a couple years back. Wonder if they are considering that “in reserve” as well!

Only one post-Cold War country operating the Leopard 2 has more new-built Leopard 2s than used and that’s Spain. Even in that case, 1/3 of them are used, from German stocks, the other 2/3 were built in the country.

Most Leopards from most operators are ex-German or ex-Dutch, excess from the Cold War. Cheap and cheerful.

Uhhh…. Arent all of Swedens 120 Leopard 2S (Strv 122) new build??? They are also the most advanced version of the Leo I think.

Surely one of the best “zaps” was the Royal Navy Phantoms that were tagged with an early WW2 USAAF emblem and the title “Colonial Navy” in place of Royal Navy.

Cant find a pic at the moment.

Yea… but can that be mounted on the heads of frickin’ sharks???:diablo:

That is the true future of laser weapons. Frickin’ sharks with lasers on their head.

    Täck för det Papa Lima.

I read about the shooting of the police station in the local news in Uppsala but didn’t see about the helicopter shootings.

The differences are not linear. It is not really important whether an FAB jock clocks more absolute hours on a Mirage than AMV jock scores on a Su-30 as long as AMV jock scores enough hours to get use of all systems his Flanker incorporates. If both pilots can be considered experieneced and well educated to fly their hardware, then the difference in used systems take the decisive role.

But looks like you obviously know more than I do, so please, provide a comparison table for FAB Mirage 2000 pilots vs AMV Su-30 pilots, including a proof than Chavez’s cowboys are just a bunch of weenies compared to FAB jocks.

I totally disagree with you on your first paragraph. There is much more to training pilots then just getting enough hours to use all the systems a pilot has at his disposal. If that was the case why even bother training outside of a simulator??

As for for your second paragraph would you kindly highlight where, anywhere in this thread where I said anything about Chavez, the AMV, Mirage 2000’s, Su-30 or some how insinuated AMV pilots were inferior to FAB pilots? Where is it??

    I cant find it…..

    Why?

BECAUSE I NEVER SAID THAT! LEARN TO READ!

I was making a point there is more to aerial combat then two planes technology, nothing more nothing less. Somehow, in your infinite wisdom you managed to think I was A) insulting AMV pilots by calling them weenies and cowboys B) stating that FAB were better.
God, I could write what I really want on this board.

I really wonder how did you come to such conclusion..

If I should take a bunch of well-kept used Mirage 2000Cs and a comparable bunch of fresh Su-30MK2s, then my pick is as obvious as it only gets. IMHO, you would need at least a Mirage 2000-5 to try to cope with the multirole Flankers.

Which countries pilots get more hours a year? Fly more exercises? Fly more realistic training? Deploy more often? Have better training and logistics infrastructure?

Ppl (especially on this board) tend to forget that there is more then just aircraft in a battle and neglect the role a pilot plays.

The pilot and their training makes a huge difference.

The Saab J-35 Draken can do it… Think that was a bit before either the Flanker or the Fulcrum. :diablo:

I understand that no F-106’s are now airworthy. The remaining flyable ones were converted to QF-106A’s and used for target practice. The ones used by NASA are also grounded. This is not to say that one could not be made flyable, but I think the ‘powers that be’ would not appreciate this aircraft in private hands.

I dont think the “powers that be” would have any issue with an airworthy F-106 being flown. After all there are private A-4’s, an F-4 Phantom II, F-104’s, MiG-21’s, L-39’s etc.

Seriously, has this thread degenerated in a BRAZIL vs SWEDEN bash? You got to be kidding me, I would laugh if it wasn’t so pathetic.

BTW I think Hammer was just having a little fun, not trying to antagonize anyone/any country.
