There are two flyable QF-106’s left at AMARC.

If the sale is indeed fulfilled will the Gripens end up like Thailands Harriers? Six really isnt that many….
Must admit I like that plane, hope Norway will chose gripen N
You and me both, would make my chosen line of work/study a bit more interesting/relevant/broad.
Does someone know from which base the Norwegians normally operate?
I imagine that these intercepts were undertaken by F-16s from Bodø
Täck for det!
I’ll post my link from this thread http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=75057 here as well:

Video of air-to-air refueling BEAR off the Norwegian coast courtesy of the Royal Norwegian Air Force.
Nice video, thanks for the link!
The UN intervened in what was basically a civil war in Korea. Technically it can kidnap anyone it likes… it is an act of war afterall.
You never cease to amuse me…
I have been following this thread with great interest once i saw you posting:rolleyes:
An article in Oct 2007 Air Enthusiast about SAAB’s 70th anniversary.
They should quiet down the Bear’s engines if they are going to put any effort into the project.
My understanding about the noisy Bear isn’t the engines per say, but rather it is a result of the contra-rotating props that make it so deafening.
There are at least three airworthy examples in Sweden, with one that flys on a regular basis. I suppose that the FMV has a couple more kicking around that they will return to service.
‘The RAF has launched an investigation after a Tornado accidentally dropped a 14kg practice bomb during an exercise.’
“The Ministry of Defence said they weighed the same as real ammunition and were carried on planes during training exercises to give pilots practice at flying with the necessary load.”
Since when did the RAF have 14kg bombs??
FWIW the Valmet (Finnish AK “clone”) has much better and more comfortable furniture then a true AK. That being said having shot both the AK and M-16 families quite a bit, I prefer the feel of the M-4 over the AK. I also think most other Western assualt rifles I shot (AK5, G3, G36, SG550, SA80, SLR) have a better feel then the old AK.
That being said, it is a wonderful designed and good weapon that has it place. Certainly there would be situations that I might rather have an AK, but that doesnt make it a superior overall weapon. Its simply a tool in a tool chest….
Kinda like those idiots that think one or two pair of skis is enough…. you need a quiver!!!:diablo:
I don’t know about the U-2 but I can tell you that the C_130 story is complete junk-at least judging by that photo, which in reality is a C-130 fire bomber having its wings ripped of out of structural fatigue.
Nope. It happened. There is plenty of evidence of it in many books. That photo is also not a fire bomber getting its wings ripped off. I have seen that picture well before the case you are speaking of.
Some more information concerning the incident between the Su-15 and Swedish Viggens to be found here (somewhere halfways down the page):

Oberg also goes into some detail on other Soviet air defence force intercepts, botched or otherwise, of western aircraft.
Wish I had that for a discussion that occurred on here a week or so ago! Good info.
Best bet would probably make friends at Rönneby, where most intercepts were launched from. I think (but am not sure) most intercept pics were taken and released by F17.
Good to know. I have contacts that I am sure can sort that out.
