Hi Phantom, its been a long time.

The SLAF has enough MiG-27’s to do the job, there is no reason to induct more aircraft.

This procurement has more to do with inducting a ‘sophisticated’ platform designed primarily for the air interception role. The arrival of MiG-29’s undoubtedly will enhance our air to air capabilities but at the same will drain much needed monetary resources which could be better spent elswhere.

However, the primary advantage will be the fact that the aircraft will be delivered together with pilots, ground support, and spares — basically the full gamut. This will spare us the logistical headaches and pilot training that come with this type of new induction.

I also have reason to believe that this induction will not be permanent.

    Sam.

No need to merge threads. One is about the Tamil Tiger Air Force and this thread has to do with SLAF procuring Fulcrums.

Many thanks. I am planning to stay in the Latin quarter of Paris. How long will it take from there to Le Bourget?

    Thanks,
    Sam.

    Harry,
Aplogies for not contributing. I did send you a PM on acig before I took off for Aero India but I guess you never got it. Been a bit busy these days at work but I have been a silent observer at the AFM forum.

    Jagan,
I finally get to see some photos eh?

    Jai,
Good to have met you as well. I also hope I can contribute a bit more in days to come.

If you look at the SLAF thread on acig.org you will see that I have written extensively on the capabilities of the MiG-27 and the Kfir as well as attrition numbers.

    Mongu,

I am gone for a few months and you start writing nonsense again? Absolving the white Christian Europeans that decimated the Aboroginal populations of Australia and at the same time chastigating the Chinese in Tibet?

Tsk, tsk, I thought you knew better than that.

Btw, Geforce nice to know that you are still alive and kicking. Is Rabie still around as well?

This is the best news I have heard about Aeroflot ever since the re-brandingn story came about.

The Hammer and Sickle is a part of Aeroflot and it should stay.

Its not an Antonov. It was a IL-76 belonging to the IRGC.

    RE: Alliance Air

Yes, that’s the one. I was referring to Alliance Air of India, a domestic airline that’s part of Indian Airlines.

Kabir, how do they manage to stay in business with competition from Jet Airways, Indian Airlines and Sahara Airlines?

Do you have any pics of Sahara Airlines?
