An overview of the Bolter v Bird situation from the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-30420190
Quite possibly it was – I suspect the “pound shop Enoch Powell” jibe might stick!
Last night too much airtime was given to the ‘star-turns’ – I’d vote for the journalist, who had a real handle on what might actually be necessary to deal with a lot of the issues raised!
‘Resigned!’ – http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-30473388
According to this report someone is now sorry and was receiving medication http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-30467897
Humbug! 🙁
He’s already had a card!! 😀

Thanks Charlie – extremely proud; and his younger brother is doing OK as well!! 🙂
Sorry Charlie I missed that as it’s been a ‘dad’s taxi weekend’ collecting the oldest son; who went to a ‘bog-standard’ comprehensive and who’s now doing his PhD at Addenbrookes!
I suppose the latest ‘illness’ as defined by no less than the EU; obesity, also falls within the parameters you describe. What nonsense !
How you can blame the EU is quite frankly bizarre and illustrates perfectly the true hyperbola of your prejudices.
As for obesity the same factors apply: psychological, environmental, biological and genetic.
I had a relative who was obese, she ate next to nothing; but she was narcoleptic, on the plus side that slowed her breast cancer and gave her some extra time.
P.S. Nice to see RB got off, but why did he have to go? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-30592072
No it doesn’t – Anorexia Nervosa is caused by a combination of factors: psychological, environmental, biological and possibly genetic – the statement of “pull yourself together” is just downright obnoxious!
Footnote: my original qualification is in pharmacology.
My research contributions really ended in the early 1980s when Boots got out of ulcer research and I moved into weighing, solids handling and process control.
In more recent times the ‘research exposure’ has continued during Skype calls, the journey to and from Cambridge and at the meal table!
Keep trying Charlie and have a good Christmas. 🙂
