Overnight several emails from enthusiasts travelling to events south and north east of the museum this weekend have asked about NAM’s opening times.

Sadly these have not been extended this weekend and remain at the normal summer times i.e. 10am until 5pm both Saturday and Sunday; with last admission being at 4pm. These opening times remain in force until 31st October. 🙂

Sorry Scott but it just gets worse the more you reveal!!! 😀

I have been asked to advise that there are currently problems with the main museum telephone not accepting incoming calls. Alternative contact details are available via an item on the News Page!

Sadly, not this Friday Scott!

I was due to go over tomorrow for some meetings connected to the proposed Visitor Centre project, but I have too much ‘proper work’ to do, which became even more frantic about 30 minutes ago with some additional work that has just winged in via email from the Netherlands! Still it helps pay the bills!

I hope that you enjoy your visit, sometimes there are cockpit openers around on Fridays so something might be open – but what can I say about you going to Skeg!! 😮

Some might see it as such; rather than shameful I prefer to see it as – Taking the opportunity to try and help buyers meet sellers face to face, and thereby perpetuate the transfer of material around the aviation world; rather than putting stuff on the Internet! 🙂

I never knew that, where are the Il-10s?

This might be a good place to put together a list of Soviet types that reside within the UK?

Of the top of my head,
MiG-15 Yeovilton
MiG-15BIS Cosford
MiG-21PF Cosford
MiG-21PFM MAM Coventry
MiG-23ML Newark
MiG-27 Newark

Isn’t there also an Su-22 (?) fitter on a weapons range somewhere aswel?

It would be nice to see an Il-2 or some of the other Cold-War era classics, such as Il-28 Beagle, a Yak-28 Firebar or Brewer, or a Be-12 Mail on display in the UK, I guess that a Tu-95 Bear would be pushing it though!

Thanks for the Newark mention pagen – for anyone interested there should be the opportunity to view the MiG-23 and MiG-27 cockpits at this event in October. 🙂

XM594 has that effect on many a visitor – once inside people don’t like to leave; not sure how much of a queue you caused though! 😉

As for ‘restricted openings’ the next ‘bout’ is on 18th October, when there’s a major power outage across the local area; still you can’t win them all! 🙂

On the same general topic…doesn’t the CWH offer flights in their lancaster?

If so, I’m surprised more UK fans don’t go to other parts of the world to make their flight dreams come true.

Instead of going to Spain, Disney, etc, etc…go have some fun.

I only managed to catch the first 30 minutes of the programme last night and I thought it was very watchable, I hope to catch the remainder at a later date.

Along with all of the other aviation programmes that have been aired on many different channels in recent weeks; hopefully this latest broadcast has drawn in many ‘ordinary members’ of the public to aviation. By and large they aren’t really interested in the minutiae of the historical detail and providing programmes like these stimulate ‘joe publics’ interest in aviation – then long may they continue to broadcast them!!
