Not heard that the Vulcan at Newark has had her APU started anytime recently, good news if it still operates occasionally.
Are any other aircraft at Newark started up ? I’m sure several must have arrived in a runnable condition, pity that maybe no others are kept that way, or are’nt planned to return to that status, especially with the skills they must have amongst their number, perhaps a museum space or policy restriction ?

XM594 last ran about 6 weeks ago – I am told that it was planned to run on the Lincolnshire’s Lancaster Association Day at Winthorpe on November 18th, but it was too wet!

Joe Petroni recently posted some pictures of their Hastings turning over in the late 1970s, but I do not believe that it has been tried since.

I saw the Safir ground run in the 1980s; they even talked about it operating on the UK Airshow circuit – I believe that it was even on the UK register at one time but that’s now safely tucked away inside.

The Viggen flew in to Cranwell but I understand that could never be run – although we could start a rumour!

Perhaps the Ward Gnome that’s just arrived might be a candidate – see below!!

Spoke with the Shop Manager at Newark Air Museum this morning about the Corgi Halifax.

She told me that they had received the 35 Sqn Halifax B Mk.2’s in early November and that the other one is due anytime – sadly they were all were pre-ordered. As a consequence they will not be on the shelves there – although they do stock many other items from the Corgi Military Aviation Archive range.

Seems as though the Corgi special edition Vulcan, XM594 is also delayed

The canopy seems to be silver and the base unit black – I hope that it helps. You could contact them to check the details they have a major training theme running through the collection!

Yes there is one at Newark, which I believe came out of RAF Newton and has been discussed here before.

There is also one at the Roll-Royce Heritage Trust Centre in Derby displayed alongside a B.S.Stentor motor.
