I have flown on a Comair Canadair and an Alitalia 145. I found the seats on the Embraer comfier. The narrower fusilage and comparative quietness of the cabin made the Embraer feel like a private jet. I did however enjoy the free drinks on the Canadair bought for me by a fellow passenger when I agreed to switch seats with him so that he could sit with his family.
Thanks for the details on air36, I’m downloading the free trail software now.
I prefer fr24 over plane plotter, I like the custom graphics. You can also try the android app from live atc. The downside is that their is no UK coverage, but its still very entertaining to listed to, especially the one guy at JFK who shouts at pilots who don’t listen to him. You do get some overlap coverage from Dublin, Shannon high level and Amsterdam to give you advance warning of traffic heading your way. The UK north Atlantic HF coverage is broadcast.
Farnboroughh rob. Sadly which ever political party dare build a third runway at Heathrow will take a panning at the next general election. Sadly the self interest of power is taking presidence over common sense yet again in British politics.
It seems to me that the positioning of the third runway at Heathrow seems a little silly. The village of Simpson does not need to be demolished. But again sadly the wrong decision has been made. The perfect place for the third runway is where the hotels and car parks north of the current runway. But its much cheaper to put a cpo on a householder than it is to compensate busnises.
A fourth runway can go to the south of the surrent southern runway. But BA maintenance will have to go, as well as a new terminal to replace T4 as it will have to be knocked down, as well as cargo.
Maybe a better strategy for Heathrow at the moment would be to place minimum load factor and aircraft size limits. Currently we have very small aircraft such as BMI Embraers and DLH CRJs using Heathrow. Maybe a minimum size of 120 seats with an average load factor of 70% should be required to maintain a slot at Heathrow. That will stop airlines from using ghost flights to keep slots. Also why do pure cargo flights still operate into Heathrow. Surely gatwick and stan stead would be better destinations for the.
Rob, there is an ATC Squadron at brought on. I’m sure they have a contact.

I’m sure Mick is secretly loving this story. It will allow him to comment about it in the media and quote ‘Ryanair, the low fares airline’ at the start of every sentence he says. That quote of his does make me laugh. Last night I looked at booking flights from the north west to one of three airports in Andalucia. Ryanair were more expensive than all other LoCos and all but one charter airlines. Even two legacy airlines via Heathrow were cheaper.
Change the record Mick.
How many weekly slots do Vueling have at Heathrow, if any?
What does the future hold for Singapore’s fleet of A340-500s then. What other routes do these jets operate on?
Steve.
Great photos, both past and present. Thanks for posting them. Last time I passed through PMI was with a very bad dose of food poisoning, so I didn’t take any photos at all.
The pic of the Orion 737 brought back many happy memories. They still are the best airline I ever flew on. I was on one of the first flights of their nice and new 737-300s. Great airline, sadly missed.
Its a sad fact of the way in which Airport Expansion is being handled in the UK that Lufthansa is able to take pax from London to connect through FRA to the rest of the world. IF something isnt done to expand runway capacity in London we will continue to loose pax to big European Hubs.

What is the go-around procedure for a missed approach on the second Vid?:diablo:
I have just downloaded Flightradar 24 pro for my android phone, its a fantastic utility for when you are out and about.
I once lost a log book and all my exposed films in the mid 90s at either Gatwick or East Midlands. Ho hum.
This was the last Tu134 i saw. It was at the RAF Valley airshow in the mid 1990s. I guess the days of this graceful aircraft are coming to an end. Shame. As the first aircraft I ever flew on I have a soft sopt for them.

This is my one and only picture of an airworthy Vanguard / Merchantman. It was taken towards the end of its career.
