Thanks very much for all the help. I did a drive-by at Filton to see the 2 x 747s as advised. They looked quite a site lined up next to each other. Can anyone give me a tie up with these please?
Its quite a long drive from Filton to Lulsgate. I didnt realise how remote the airport was from the city and how poor the roads are getting to the airport, especially in the maze of city one way streets and roundabouts.
Highlight of the trip was seeing the MNG F27. It was worth the trip to see this little gem.
Thanks again
Steve
Fantastic report, thanks for sharing. Cant wait for the next installment.

Thanks very much for all the help. The Mayfly is especially useful, do all airports issue one of these or is it unique to BRS?
Regards
Steve
I hear that the standard price is £5. If you have checked in at the airport it goes up to £6.50 and put baggage in the hold then its £9.00. Add on to that the fuel surcharge for the calender of £0.07, VAT at destination country departure rates, APD and security tax along with a £0.25 reservation free then the true Ryanair price comes in at between £14.65 and £22.56 for the calendar. :diablo: :diablo: :diablo:

Any idea what the future holds for the stored DC8s?

Great pic of the MA-60, what a little gem.

Well, thanks for all the replies (Thks also Matt for the link – looks very good).
My partner suggested a day out there as a birthday treat and even if the weather is not that great and there is nothing fantastic movements wise, I have not been there before and I always take the view that a trip to an airport is a bit like s*x – even when its bad, its still pretty good. 😀
does that mean that if your trip to an Airport is REALLY exciting its all over in a few minutes:diablo: :diablo: :diablo:
Web site http://www.jethros.i12.com on their Ryanair fleet list are showing the first earliest 10 Ryanair Boeing 737-800s as leaving the fleet final quarter of ’07, with the next 10 during 2008, and a further 10 during 2009 (covers all the EI-CS* aircraft and as far as EI-DAG inclusive). (from nwan.co.uk)
RYR seem to be disposing of the older B738s before the expensive and time consuming C-check is due. MOLs theory is that aircraft dont make money sitting on the ground.

I cant see why the F22 is listed as the best from 07 onwards as they are still not yet in service fully and serviceable. I would go for the FA18 EF.
They are replacing the earlier delivered 738s with the newer ones so its not all fleet expansion with the new jets.

It visited Manchester on the 22 May 05, boy did I do the 100m to the raised platform in about 9 seconds. It was a charter unfortunatly.
Simple, just call your new jet a Regional Jet and it sells, or so it seems. Wonder when Airbus will unveil the short range A380 Regional Jet 🙂 🙂 🙂

128.05 is a good starting point for traffic climbing out of or into MAN. You will then find it easy to pick off other frequencies as MAN hand the traffic off.

Who said the J-10 has long range?
The Persian Gulf is at max 150km wide, no need for long range strike aircraft.
And striking American combat vessels is – in my humble opinion – not a very good idea.
Surely if the Iranians want to strike US vessels they will use boghammers at sea or suicuide boats in port rather than a wave of expensive fighters?
The EU would never allow a merger of BA and British Midland Airways. This would be a disaster for British and European travelers. While a merger between BA and AA would be remarkable, the US government will never allow it. Even if it passed the US authorities, the EU would force the two to give up LHR slots. They will never agree to this.
Bill
If this were to happen BMI would go the way of every BA franchise operator, bust. BA would cherrypick the routes it wanted and its LHR slots. BMI would then be wound up.
Manx – Bust, Loganair – Bust (almost but struggling back), City – Sold to Fly BE, Go – Sold to Ryanair.
Please BMI dont dance witht he devil.
