    Awful cover versions?…..

The scene: Top of the Pops (I know, serves me right for watching it!)

The crime: ‘Busted’ murdering the classic Undertones track Teenage Kicks!
    Absolutely fecking useless!

The really wet part of the beach were the tide has gone out is used and is surprisingly firm when compressed by the weight of the Herc, I don’t fancy the job of washing all that salty gunk from the airframe after a session at the seaside though!:)

Matt, I apologise for the abruptness of my first reply to this thread, what I should have wrote was something like this; If you want a good pilots perspective of flying the F-4 then try the following: ‘F-4 Phantom – A pilot’s story’ by Robert Prest, when he wrote the book he was a serving RAF F-4 pilot and the book offers many insights into the life of Phantom pilot.
As regards to what appeals to me about the F-4, its combat record, just the way it looks like a warplane should from almost any angle, it also lends itself rather well to celebratory and unusual colour schemes…..I could go on and on and on but it would probably get boring!:)

The following images are good examples of unusual colour schemes.

If you think the only good thing the F-4 did was make the world realise that agile aircraft were still needed then I suggest you expand your reference library considerably!

IF62M, a Boeing team was sent to Japan after the tail strike to instigate a repair, the repair they came up with was actually stronger than the original bulkhead design, unfortunately where two rivets should have joined a plate only one was fitted, the rest is history, incidentally the Japanese engineer who signed-off on the Boeing repair committed suicide.
